I do not agree with all of his theology...but, I respect him immensely...all of his funds are made private...and for the millions that he generated, he only gave himself a modest salary of $80,000.00...his ministry gave Bibles, devotionals, etc...to many people...not selling them, but giving them...asking only for an offering....the money raised in his ministry...went right back into the ministry....a lot different from the wealthy televangelists...
One other thing, I totally respect...he acknowledges that he is not all knowing...that he is not the ultimate authority on scripture.,....that only God is the only ultimate authority on scripture...and when he speaks...he prefaces so much of what he says with, "I believe", or "from my study of the Bible, I believe, "......he does not pretend to be God...he does not pretend to know all....he does not slam his hand on the pulpit saying, "God says"...he does not pretend to be God...

Try looking at your own words - I do not believe that Hitler was a christian - What does your beliefs have to do with anything. He was born into a christian family with a part jewish heritage. It is that simple. And what have his actions to do with being christian. First, the pope supported him throughout the war and many of the war criminals got out of Europe and to South America on Vatican passports. Also, Pope Innocence the 3rd claimed to be christian yet he slaughtered many times more people than Hitler ever thought about, just to save those few christians from falling into a life of evil and go to hell. A typical christian, an interesting concept. There are many - typical christians - on this forum that would love to have anyone not in the same boat as them killed. Christians have always killed by the millions to save people from evil. It is no different now than 1000 years ago only we have laws, not run by the christian community as they were in the past allowing those killings.

I don't know anything personally about Rev. Graham. What I do not is that I have never heard a bit of gossip about his life, his ministry, or members of his family. He doesn't appear to be a phony or self-righteous as so many evangelists are. I only wish that his spirituality had rubber off on all the politicians he is close to.
I don't want him to die, ever, but I sure would like to read his biography after he has gone to that better place.
He is what all Christians should be. I am a Catholic and wish most of our priests would have his attitude and faith.

Billy Graham is a modern day example of how we all should be, towards God and in our lives! What a wonderful man he is. He dedicated most all of his adult life to the will of God! What a heart this wonderful man of faith possesses!
In fact, he has always been about the love of God and salvation! I truly believe that Billy wanted all to know God the way he has experienced God. I admire him for this! What love he has for God's creations!
I will sorely miss Ruth as she was a wonderful woman of faith. I know that the death of his beloved wife has had to put a strain on the precious man but, I also know that Billy leans upon God for strength!
God bless this man and I pray he gets well fast!

I have read through most of the answers you have received...... and it seems as if there are those who do and do not think Mr. Graham a true man of God..... *sigh*, and I guess it is from which side of the fence you look from..... Yes, he was a man of God, I can NOT say if he was great or not, ONLY God has that power and knowledge, but, I feel/think he was as close to God as any one human could *hope* in Christ to get....... Mr. Graham was flesh and blood, with the failings of that , but he did as God called him to do, and that was to spread the Good News to all who would *hear*........ I watched many of his shows growing up, and I saw ALL walks of life in the audience........ I do NOT get any of the comments about him NOT working for certain groups of people ?? sorry, I don't.... but, I am sure each of these people have their own reasons ......... Mr. Graham went farther with the message, Gods, than most have, but again, that is something for sure ONLY God knows........ I myself, have been touched many times by his words, the words he only counted as glory for the Father....... just my humble thoughts and opinion.......and to those who say, *because he was NOT hated *, what do you think some people are saying about him ?? Do you not think there are those who *hate* the word he has spread ??? and Mr. Graham has been a man of God for many, many, many, years, I am sure that he made a few enemies, and it was all done in and for Glory for the Father............. go in peace.......... God bless

HOwever, he was well paid for his preaching work.
He became a multimillionair and some say into the billion dollar mark. So as much as we would like to believe these are special people who have this connection with God.
I believe that God hears all prayers. Even from us lowly people.
As to what did he do with all that money?
He build hospitals, colleges, schools, and medical centers.
But they were not free, in fact they were more costly than your average building for that service. So they were what is called by some an investment. And they were all done tax free.
He has many mansions, fleets of jets, and fleets of cars.
I have to look at him as a very wise business man.
A model of Jesus no when you think Jesus had no where to lay down his head. He didn't own a thing.

Gee, how many millions did he donate to the victims of Katrina? He got rich by putting the fear of God in the people he was there to "help." So I see him as someone who has used religion as a way to become wealthy!
Didn't he beg all the people around this country to save his life by donating a million dollars? Why would someone who supposedly has been a good and righteous person be afraid of death and use that as a rally cry for money?
Oh well, I don't have to like him or what he has done as long as someone thinks he did something good.

No human is a saint. Graham has his faults, to be sure, and I don't like all of the things he stands for, but I'd have to say that he's a good example for Christians.

Preaching is one thing and can be very manipulative. I'd have to know him personally to come to that conclusion and how he actually lived his life. Alot of preacher's preach the Word of God but many of them do not follow a life for Christ. Half of the evangelists on T.V. put on a show to make profit and expand their fame and fortunes. So you never know who is actually for God and who is just putting on an act. You have to watch those "wolves in sheep's clothing" as God puts it.

Just remember it was all done for the almighty buck, and that's what it is all about, I am sure he is a nice Christian man but money was his motive and still is to this day, I do not see any so called great preachers as a good example to anyone except their bankers, he only fools the ignorant, the elderly, the uneducated, and the poor, May God have mercy on his greedy soul.
