Christians who talk about sin being bad for you and then sin are usually called hypocrites, for some ridiculous reason.

Alcoholics, drug addicts, etc, who talk about these things being bad for them and then slip back into old habits are called "recovering ******".

Smokers, who will admit that smoking is bad for them and do it anyway, ....well, I guess I can't think of anything to call them but I don't think of them as hypocrites.

So should Christians change what they are called to "recovering sinners" since Christianity is really for people who are recovering from sin to become better people?

Well, That sounds like an appropriate conclusion to me. And I would like to say I am a grateful, grateful recovering sinner. Thank-you very much.

No. Absolutely not. To be a Christian is to be a Saint. That
doesn't mean you did not sin today. Maybe you did, maybe
you didn't. That's between God and you. But if you are a Saint
then you are no longer a sinner. You may have to fight the flesh
everyday, but that does not mean you are a sinner now. You
are a Saint. Not a sinner.

As far as hypocrites go, well I'd rather go to Heaven with a bunch of hypocrites, than to go to Hell with a bunch of hypocrites.

I don't like the name Christian, because I have yet to meet any that were Christ like. I simply use the term Believer to describe myself. I am not saved by my own righteousness, but by my belief. All men have fallen short of the glory of God. We are all sinners, and we will continue to sin until we become spirits. Corruption must put on uncorruption in order to enter the sight of God. Recovering, I don't know about that, because we sin daily, whether it be by thought deed or action. At least an Alcoholic can go days or even years without having a drink.

Mankind does not go a day without sinning, so how can he be in recovery?

The term 'Recovering Sinners' implies that the person in question is at least making some sort of overture towards avoiding sin.

Most Christians don't. They are saved and their efforts end there.

I am what I am and My God knows all about me. I am a born again christian, and that is what I am. Plain & simple. I don't play with my faith or religion. I respect God, His house & His word. I compare my faith to nothing else. I am at peace.
In all other aspects of my life, I have an open mind. I always consider WWJD before before I do something that might harm another soul. Enough said. I rest my case~~~

"Children of GOD".

Maybe that's not a half bad way to think of it. Most atheists on here want Christians to live perfect lives to live up to some unbiblical and fake "standard". It isn't reality. Christians are SAVED sinners.

The true Christians I have met sound nothing like you and represent their Jesus with compassionate and open hearts.
You are your own idol and I feel sorry for you.

It doesn't matter one little bit what you are called or what people will call you. What matters is the state of one's heart before God. He knows if we believe in His Son and whether we have trusted His Son as our Saviour. What matters is whether we believe or do not believe the Son.

At least they have the realisation at some point that they ought to change. It's only a matter of choice.
