i believe that there are a few issues here. one is the issue of illegal habitation, the illegals are ILLEGAL. they have willingly and knowingly attempted to circumvent the law and lie, cheat and steal their way into our country. fortunately, or unfortunately, the groups with the largest demographics are the mexicans, the guatemalans, the salvadoreans, the colombians, etc.... there aren't any appreciable numbers of germans, austrian, swedes norwegians, et al, who are jumping the border and swimming in through rivers.
btw, when those groups are found to have illegals, as in those people who lied on their original visas, about being involved with the nazi party, during ww2, there have been highly publicized deportation proceedings undertaken.
an illegal is illegal, is illegal.

Absolutely, the problem is not with immigrants and immigration it is with ILLEGAL immigrants and immigration. Whether you or I like it or not the reality is the people are all criminals and should be dealt with as such. Now, having said that, there is really no practical way to deal with 12-20 million illegal immigrants and the Presidents program was actually quite ingenious. It would bolster our borders (Fence increase in agents) while at the same time remove the impetuous for employer to hide the illegal workers (guest worker program) That would bring the so called hard working immigrants out of the shadows. The remaining number would be more manageable to track down and deport. Unfortunately Ted Kennedy and John McCain got involved and somehow citizenship got put into the mix. That just sent the wrong message and thus we have no improvement in the immigration situation.

If the government decided that it wasn't necessary to enforce laws against them, the outcry would be tremendous. Since those people had no problem adopting English and being assimilated into American culture rather than acting like a foreign invasion, it is no surprise they made such good citizens.

if you read some history you would find that the Irish were one of the most persecuted immigrates other than the Chinese, however, they assimilated, overcame and helped to build a strong nation. none were seen as wanting to remake any part of America to be like their homeland, that is why the fled, to make a better life for themselves and their children.
as long as we have ppl coming here yet wanting to wave the flag of that nation, rather than the American flag, we will have issues with those immigrants. learn the language, respect your new flag and your new homeland.
i hope the time comes when no hyphen is attached to any ethnic American. we are just Americans...not Afro-American, Mexican -American...etc or any other name that automatically states you are less than all. IMO

If the they were illegal and entering the US the answer is yes, and the issue is not the overcrowding or the ethnicity. Would there not be an loud outcry by another country if Us citizens were illegally flooding it.

Yes. Illegal is illegal. Our cities are way overcrowded.
The extra beef against Latinos is that they work for nothing, use our social services (which increases our taxes), and are very arrogant in demanding rights that they don't have. They are also by far the largest group. We have about a dozen 'Spanish Only' zip codes where I live. By that I mean every sign, on every business and every advertisement is in Spanish. Feels like I'm the visitor in my own town.

If they were causing the same issues, yes, people would be just as upset. Don't make it a race issue, because it isn't. Mexicans turned into the poster child for this issue because it made it more difficult to deal with illegal immigration when the people on the other side are also calling you a racist.

Would 500,000 hispanic people have marched in the streets of Los Angeles for so-called "rights" for illegal aliens, if the 20 million illegal aliens in this country were Chinese or Russian instead of mostly Mexican and other hispanic?
DOUBT IT.
Ask yourself this - are YOU a racist, because you only support illegal aliens breaking the law because they are the same color skin as you?

yep, if they were demanding rights that are not theirs, refusing to learn English, burning our flags, making racist remarks against Americans, and basically doing everything the Mexican illegals, or whatever spanish speaking country they're from, are doing. Again, this is not a skin color issue. I know that Mexicans can be really hard workers and I'm not opposed to them being here, I just want them here legally if they're going to be here. Why is it so hard to understand that illegal is illegal, no matter who you are?

If someone breaks into my house and steals from me I won't think it's okay because we are of the same race. Same with illegal immigration. It is the current illegal alien majority that insist on making this issue about race.
