You will need to a licensed driver over the age of 25 with you in the front passenger seat at all times with 1 exception
If you are operating the car at night, it can only be if you are driving to and from work only. you will need to be able to prove that
In the event you are stopped, your permit can be suspended until you are 18 ( if you are not at that age already). If you are, then it would be for 6 months. If you are stopped a second time and you are under the age of 18, you driving privileges would be suspended until you turn 21

You must practice with a parent, guardian, spouse, or an adult 25 years of age or older (NOT 21), who has a valid California driver license. The person must be close enough to take control of the vehicle at any time. A provisional permit does not let you drive alone—not even to a DMV office to take a driving test.

If you have an M1 or M2 permit, you cannot carry passengers, you must ride during daylight hours only, and you cannot ride on the freeway.

There are no restrictions on WHERE you can drive (within the state). You need to have someone over 25 with you.
