It is ok to give your dog bones if they have not been cooked. Raw bones are OK! You can check this out with your vet, she will say the same. You have to remember that these are predatory animals, their bodies are fully equpied to eat anything that they would eat if they were wild animals, including raw bones. But they would not eat cooked bones, cooked bones splinter when they break because the marrow is all dried up. This can cause major problems. Raw bones will not splinter when knawed on. If you have a big dog, then the bone should be really big, so a chicken bone would not be good. You would do better with a cow knee or something like that. A smaller dog should have a smaller bone, but it should be a bone big enough that they can not break it in half with a couple of bites. The proper bone should be thick enough that it has to be knawed on over and over again, not chewed.

Thing is, poultry bone shatter after cooked, because they are kinda hollow. Most of the time, there is no ill effect. I remember the same things, where dogs ate bones. The issue is that when something goes wrong, is goes really wrong and FAST. If the bone splits wrong and cuts on the way down, your dog can suffocate either because the air won't come in or because he drown in his own blood.
If you notice he has had bones, watch him close for any problems, and take him to the ER if he acts abnormal at all. That said, do not give them to him if you can help it.
Raw bones they can eat, because they are soft and flexable. If you want to give any chicken bones at all, give them raw.
Pig and cow bones, however, are okay. Just no bird.

Chicken bones can splinter and hurt your dog's insides. My vet says you should not give beef or pork bones either. Last year I gave my dog a beef bone and he started bleeding when he pooped. I took him to the vet and he showed me the bone piece in him. My vet had me observe him and luckily my dog passed the bone. The vet said he would have needed surgery if he didn't pass it. I don't give my dog any bones. There are plenty of other types of treats.

Raw chicken and bones are fine but when cooked the bones become brittle and splinter into sharp shards. These can be dangerous to a dogs throat & organs.

No you are not supposed to give your dog chicken bones because the bones splinter and could cause your dog to choke. Steak bones are fine.

Your not supposed to, it could cause damage to many parts of their body....
Chicken bones are tough and brittle most of the time....
My neighbor learned her lesson on giving her dog chicken bones.. She too also thought it was ok, until her dog became constipated, needless to say she had to help the dog go. And then took her dog to the vet....and found out....

I've been givin my dog chicken bones for about 5 years now. She has never had any kind of internal problems. And loves eating them. She makes a mess, but that's about the worst of it.

You could, but I wouldn't recommend it. Chicken bones splinter very easily and can easily cause damage when it's passed along the digestive tract. Cooked chicken bones are even worse. Unless you want to risk causing damage to your dog, you shouldn't give him/her chicken bones.

Chicken bones splinter when they're chewed on. The sharp pieces can puncture your dogs stomach. They are not a good treat for your dog.
