Your daughter isn't too young as long as you know she is responsible. It is much safer than taking a bath alone. Let her enjoy and feel like a grownup.

My sons are 6 & 7 and have been taking showers alone for a while now.
5 1/2 is ok to start but make sure she understands how to wash certain areas.

Depends on the child. Does she shampoo properly and rinse all the shampoo out? Does she wash all over like she should? If she can do these things, she should be able to shower on her own.
My daughter was about 7 when she learned to thoroughly rinse her hair, took my son a little longer. After about age 5 or 6, I'd pop one of them in the tub, wash and rinse their hair, then let them bathe themselves and play with the tub toys.
One of my friends was letting his son bathe alone at about 4, but had to rinse his hair for him, too. So it isn't bathing that's so hard for most kids, it's rinsing out all the shampoo. Once a kid masters that, they're good to go!

No actually, it's a great age, I put my youngest daughter in a shower at the age of 4 3/4. But i did mark where NOT to more the temp handle i mark a red like at about 87 degrees, so she will not mess with it, there is also handles, and different gadgets, to stop a child from turing the hot ot cold water. I know they sell it at Wal-Mart, and Target. :]

My 6 yr old has been taking showers since he was 5. I would suggest being in the bathroom with her the first few times, in case she needs help, and make sure the tub isn't slippery.

Stay in the bathroom with her, and turn the shower on so she doesn't flood the bathroom or anything like that. After you know your daughter can handle being alone in the bayjroom while she showers, you can leave her alone in the bathroom.

for my step son, i didn't leave him alone until he started taking showers (not baths) which was when he was 6 yrs old. If he still took baths now (he's 8 now) i still wouldnt let him be alone in there but just because of the water mess he'll make from playing in there. I don't think he'll drown himself. For your lil one, i think if she's taking showers now instead of baths them its ok to leave her (if shes comfortable with that) there by herself but with the door wide open and of course you being near by and check up on her frequently.

You know her better than we do. Do you think she's capable of doing it?
What you might want to do is let her try, but have her call you when she's ready to get out, so that you can check to make sure she's rinsed herself off properly. Make sure she knows how to be safe and how to keep the bathroom dry, before she goes in, too.

let her shower alone, but maybe stay in the bathroom "just in case" she needs a towel for soap in her eyes or any other help she may need. But, if SHE wants to try alone, I'd let her have some independence, but with you nearby.

i was about 6. sometimes i wouldnt wash all the shampoo out so my mom would feel my hair and tell me whether or not i needed to go wash the rest out. as long as you are in the next room or something i dont see why not.
