honestly i have no idea what eye refraction is, but about the waiver, they are pretty easy to get, my husband had to get a waiver for his cholesterol being slightly high. Depending what a eye refraction is you should'nt have a problem getting a waiver.

A waiver allows you to join the military, even though you might not meet a certain qualification. There are waivers for everything.

The refraction is a vision test that determines your best visual acuity with corrective lenses.

In other words, it makes image formation possible by the eye.

The eye refraction test is an eye exam that measures a person's ability to see an object at a specific distance.

I was told, but have no idea if its true that low eye sight, even with a wavier, may limit the MOS that you are allowed.. I don't know how true that is though.

You should be able to get in with no problem.

Good luck and it usually doesn't take long to get the waiver that you need, especially since you made it all the way to the MEP station.

Good luck with everything.

Well, do you really think you are good to go for physical training bro? I am not going to make that call, but heres what I suggest. GO to another recruiter, out of town. Tell them you have nothing wrong with you and you have no medical record. They will check you out at MEPs and find nothing, you're on your way. I didn't have to provide any medical record when I joined the Marine Corps....hell, I didn't even have one, nor did they ask. They asked if I had anything wrong with me and all my previous surgeries, I said I had none and that was that. But if you tell them you've had surgery, you must then get your medical record of this. Which in turn disqualifies you. Now if you do this and later on you have trouble you could be prosecuted for fraudulent enlistment. So.....thats on you man, if you know how to keep your mouth shut and don't have any issues with that previous surgery you'll be fine. Good luck. PS. Oh, and no man, if that recruiter disqualified you, you are done. Also, it would have been that "district" that disqualified you, not just the recruiter, so you will need to travel to another district so you can fraudulently enlist, lol.

Ah, I wish I could help you, seeing as I had to get two waivers myself after I DEP'ed in [six days ago, fun -__-]. I can tell you however, that you'll be going back soon for a med consult [seeing as how three other people who had consults had eye refractions]. Basically, you'll wait around at MEPS for a while again, and eventually your 'driver' will show up & take you to whatever doctor you're supposed to see. You'll get back, wait a while longer, turn your med file back in, and leave. Unfortunately, I have no idea what happens after that. Suppose you just sit 'n wait for your waiver to go through.

Eye refraction means that your vision is too far one way or the other. Either too near sighted, or too far sighted. And actually, I believe if you scored in the positive numbers it means you are far sighted. The waiver you will need will be a medical waiver that your recruiter is going to have to submit for you. It may mean that you are going to have to go to your regular eye doctor and have them give you a "clean bill of health", so to speak. Call you recruiter right away, and they can tell you the next step.

Maximum permissible refractive index is plus or minus 8 diopters. The thickness of your eyeglass lens is an indicator of refractive index, but it is also measured with an optometric device. A waiver for this is a routine matter. Once it is approved and your recruter is notified, you are able to enlist from a medical standpoint.
Hope this helps.

They make you get waivers if you don't have your eyeglasses with you during the meps sometimes. My eye sight isn't great but with glasses on I got the ok. Go to an eye-doctor and get a waiver and your good to go.

Man i had your same problem, that basically means that you have to go see your eye doctor so he can give you your correct eye numbers ( 20/20 etc ............ ) and your recruiter shoud go as well so he can acquire the necesary information for the doc so he can wave your eyes.............good luck, ( and i think your meps office should have hooked you up with a free consultation if im correct )
