The major parties won't run a candidate who is tough, and such candidates can't raise money from the usual supsects, since business lobbies want the cheap labor and liberal activists want the influx of minorities. Some unions (a fading force in American politics) are against illegals, and so are the majority of Americans (who don't give out a lot of campaign contributions). That's not sufficient cash to get anyone's name and position out there enough to be recognized.

Immigration isn't the only issue. Iraq is also a big issue as well as the economic one...besides Tom Tancredo is a major loon and Duncan Hunter has no chance. If I were to vote for someone it would be Ron Paul because he makes the most sense out of all the candidates out there Democrat or Republican..

I agree that we need to get tough and very politically active and that illegal immigration is the number ONE issue for '08.
But the president alone can do very little unfortunately.
An amendment will require a two-thirds vote of both houses and all states which is very difficult.
I say we start with the pres and a sweep of the congress. BUT!!!... We can NOT stop there. We NEED AN AMENDMENT TO DEFINE THE TERMS OF BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP!!!
Otherwise, the court can just continue deciding that "Stop" means "Go" and "Illegal" means "Legal", etc.

I intend to. Illegal immigration is the primary issue on which candidate to vote on. Unfortunately, none of the candidates who take a tough stance look like they'll make it through the primaries.

Ron Paul buddy.
Unfortunatly he can't win.
The entire Hispanic voting block and their supporters will vote against him. Also some women will vote for Hillary because of gender bias and nothing else. No matter how many of us hate illegal immigration, there will be traitors who will accept a canidate who will help their personal group rather than vote for the person who is best for America.

ALL applicants -- Republicans and Democrats -- have taken a stand against unlawful immigration. the main significant distinction seems to be on what could prefer to be carried out with reference to the undocumented extraterrestrial beings who're already indoors the rustic and on in spite of if there could prefer to be a shopper-worker application to assist grant extra workers for harvests, and so on.

i think people will do that. but i think it's up to the people who's first priority is not immigration and they may be voting for someone who is not "tough" on immigration, like Obama or Clinton. they seem like they would win, but it wouldn't be because of immigration.

I did not vote because it's not time yet. Trust me...when the time comes......they will get my vote.
ANY person running for any office that isn't 100% against amnesty in ANY form....hasn't got a snowballs chance of getting my vote.

Because the candidate that gets the nomination will have more allegiance to the lobbyist and media that bought his/her souls that what American citizens want will not matter at all.
