I don't think most credible historians would come to the same conclusions he did about the American pullout in Vietnam. For instance, he cites something like "reprisals against our allies in Vietnam" as a consequence. Well, DUH.

He also cites the Cambodian massacres as a direct consequence but given that we ourselves rather indiscriminately carpet-bombed Cambodia with no regard for Cambodian sovereignty at the time, I'm not so sure we didn't contribute to the instability in that country that lead to such horrible things.

I don't think Bush has a very good grasp on history or global politics at all---well obviously not, given the mess he has created.

Whether Iraq will suffer more or less once we leave, nobody can say. My feeling, given the Middle East's past, is that there will be limited bloodshed to "settle old scores" and then business as usual, with another strong man keeping law and order, like Saddam did.

I will say one thing though...Al Queda will be dead and gone in a month once we leave Iraq. The Iraqis will definitely get rid of them pronto....they know who they are and they know how to control them---just like they did before we invaded.

Yes. That's true. But everybody keeps equating Vietnam with Iraq (lost war, quagmire, no way out). In Bush's twisted mind, he's turned it around and is saying the Iraq will be like post-war Vietnam if we pull out. All time time he's been denying that Iraq is like Vietnam and now he draws comparisons? What an idiot.

To me his even mentioning Vietman in the same breath as Iraq to justify his war is totally off base. Unless he is trying to say that in the end Iraq will end up being just like 'Nam where a lot of US soldiers died and it did not change a damn thing. Vietnam still went Commie ( this was one of the excuses used to enter in the "police action" in 'Nam- the spread of Communism in Asia OMG!!!!!). We left and there was bloodshed and wholesale slaughter of factions but in the end they had to work it out for themselves. This is the next phase of the " stay the course" strategy. Only his addled mind knows

Thank you for your service!!!!

He might be right on this one..but for the wrong reason. He probably thinks he is "spreadin' freedom". But both wars were a lost cause from the get go.
