I'm a life scout ready to make eagle and need information on artificial Christmas tree reefs. If there are fellow scouts out there who have done this project or have helped some one else with a similar project please help!

Hello Dawg:

Our Cub pack helped gather trees for a freshwater river project. The trees were placed on the outside curve of the stream to help trap soil and debris so that the bank would not be further undercut. The Cubs did not place the trees, we only gathered them. The trees also provide shelter for migrating fish.

Try doing some google searches in your area for river restoration, or stop by the library bulletin board to see if there is a river restoration club.

Keep on Scoutin'

An artificial reef is made by putting boulders or junked cars in an ocean. A wreath is made by bending pine branches into a circle, obviously you should ask your scoutmaster to write down which project you need to do because there is a world of difference between the two.
