I have never seen an oval shaped burger. I used to work at a swimming park where we cooked frozen burgers, and I never saw one turn out to be oval.

you're right they do turn oval

its cos the water inside expands when frozen and then contracts and most is released from the burger when it is cooked.

this contraction is irregular i,e, not on a unifrom basus thrtoughut the burger hence the oval rather than round shape you are left with

I've never seen that. But burgers change shape when they're cooked because some of the fat is being cooked out.

The burger expands during cooking due to the heat and takes on a new form........ or something like that. Just eat the thing.

cos when they are made they are nice then jack frost hits them so when you come to cook them from frozen the shock of the heat pulls the meat together,so its better to buy fresh burgers out the butcher

because the makers fill them with water, to make them appear larger, so when they cook the water evaporates causing the shape to change, try buying more expensive ones like marks and spencer aberdeen angus burgers they are the bomb, and they dont change shape!! ( not that i'm implying you buy economy burgers or anything like that)

Hi!
The type of burger that does that is pressed into shape and it has to do with the direction that it is rolled out... If they taste good eat them, you only live once :P

Because they are LOADED with fat! When you cook it the fat melts and changes the shape of the burger. Don't eat the crap!

because they shrink as water is evaporated and naturally would not 'decide' to keep to the original shape they were formed into!
