A quick way to season rice is to add a package of dried soup mix to every 2 cups of uncooked rice. (Will make 4 cups of cooked rice) Chicken noodle, vegetable, onion (serve with sour cream), tomato basil, beef noodle - all work well.

Parmesan cheese added at the end of cooking is good with any of these additions..

One of my all time favorites is to chop onions , add the zest of one lemon, and cook the rice in chicken broth. When cooked, add one chopped bunch of cilantro to the hot rice.

You can also add celery, onion and poultry seasoning while the rice cooks.

And, the big secret of cooking rice is "NO PEEKING" once the lid goes on the pot.

Depends on the state of the rice.

If it is already cooked then try the following:

Stewed tomatoes, with a pinch of sugar. I buy the stewed tomatoes in the can and mix it with the rice. The sugar is to lower the acidity of the tomatoes. Add salt and pepper to taste. We southerners like to also add skinned bacon to the pot. Skinned bacon has the skin on it similar to pork rinds and makes this dish taste even better. You usually cook the rice and add the tomatoes just before the rice is done. However it is hard for me anyway to avoid it sticking to the pot and getting it dry as possible-little liquid. So I add the tomatoes after the rice is done in a seperate pot.

My fave as a child was cheddar or american cheese. It is usually done when the rice is almost done. But I could never get right. So after my rice is done. I just stir the cheese in or nuke it a little to mix in the rice.

For breakfast we would add eggs. Put the rice in a frying pan. Make a hole in the middle put enough butter in the hole to scramble your eggs and to keep the rice from sticking. Add your beaten eggs and scramble the whole pan together until the eggs are scrambled to your liking. You can add the cheese to the egg mixture or sprinkle on top after you add the eggs.
My brothers would add bacon or ham to theirs.

I broil my fave fish with whatever veggies i have a taste for and eat them over rice. Sometimes its just the fish and the rice with a little lemon pepper seasoning. Either Olympic track and field star Flo Jo or Jackie Joyner said that they ate fish and rice to lose weight after having a baby. Who knows if it works.

If the rice hasn't been cooked yet. Try boiling some chicken seasoned with just salt and pepper. Add an onion or two when the chicken is almost done, add the uncooked rice. Then cook tile the rice is done. Don't forget it is 1 cup of rice for every 2 cups of water.

If none of this appeal to you, try bettycrocker.com or some web site similar.

FYI brown rice is healthier-taste the same as the white.

I've tried a recipe once which turned out really good. Brown uncooked rice in a pad of butter or olive oil. Fill with chicken broth and simmer on medium until the rice is cooked. Add freshly grated parmesan cheese and a healthy dose of fresh cracked pepper. It sounds weird, but really good!

If you have cooked rice, then soy sauce, sesame oil, and a sprinkle of sesame seeds.

I don't know if you are using a traditional method to prepare or a rice cooker. I don't use a cooker, but a rice pot, with a little bit of EVOO and piece of scallion to lightly brown before adding the water. During cooking you could add some frozen corn, or peas. Some people I know like to add salchichas (vienna sauges, sliced). Garlic, garlic salt, or fresh garlic finely chopped is nice to add before you cover up the pot.

There's a whole lot that can be added, but it would no longer be white rice (yellow rice, spanish rice, rice &beans, etc.)

I like to slice up green onions and cook them with the rice. I also always cook in chicken broth instead of water. Then I add about 1/4 cup of shredded parmesan when it's all done (that's for the 4 serving proportions of Uncle Ben's).

Good luck!

i use many different things but below is one of our favorites

mix the following in a 9 x9 pan

one can of mushroom/or cream soup(chicken is our fav)
two cups of water
one cup of rice
2-4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
one tbsp of woschestier sauce(sp)
spices to taste
veggies(optional)

cover with alumimum foil and bake for approx one hour on 350 degrees...uncover and sprinkle with cheese continue cooking for 10-15 min till cheese is melted and beginning to brown/bubble serve

you can change the spices to make it more like other ethnic cooking for example use chili or other mexican spices/cheeses and then it tastes more mexican or use soy sauce in place of whor... and or maybe some teriyaki sauce with almonds and be a little asian..
