If it was proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that there was no God and no Jesus, 100 % proven, would you want to know the truth or would you prefer to continue on believingand not know the truth? And also, I'd like to know why.
This is a HYPOTHETICAL question. So please spare me the fact that this could never happen. I just want to know what you would do IF this were true. Also, please no answers like "Science might disprove it but that doesn't change my FAITH." If you don't want to go along w/ the hypothetical situation, please don't answer.
Also, please include your age and gender if you don't mind. I am doing a study for school. Thanks in advance.

Yes, I find it truly amazing how everyone has such a hard time answering this. It's sad.

I used to be proud to be a Christian. Now I realize I am in the company of ignorant idiots. And yes, you read right... all of you who ASSUMED I wasn't... I am a Christian. It's just that, apparently, I'm not afraid to think. Sad people.

Following your hypothetical "question", IF there was irrefutable evidence to the contrary, I would do as I have done in the past when I was confronted with the fact that my then current beliefs were wrong: I'd stop the current belief and search for truth.

I guess it would be the same as discovering that oxygen doesn't really exist. I'd go on living just the same and with the same principles I have learned from the bible.
I have lived on both sides of the fence about an equal amount of my life (26 years and 26 years). The first 26 years I was not a believer. I lived those years for myself. They were ok years, but the last 26 years, living for God, have been awesome and incredible!
The Christian life is a GREAT life!!
You loudly proclaim that you used to be "proud" to be a Christian. Perhaps this is where you should look first to discover where you went wrong. "Pride preceeds the fall." is what the bible teaches. This is true especially for those who are believers (Christians).
BTW: Please point to where I assumed you were not a believer (Christian). I merely shared my own faith and testimony. "Whether this man is a sinner I do not know, but whereas I was blind, now I see." I don't have to have the answer to every question. I know the difference a relationship with the risen Savior has made in my own life. That is what I shared.
The Father stands waiting and watching for your return home. He's ready to throw a party. Don't let your pride keep you away.
God bless you.

Yes, I would want to know. Anyone with intellectual integrity would want to know, would they not?
This reminds me of a TV special not long ago in which there were scientists who believed they could have discovered the tomb of Jesus. The following question was raised to various religious leaders: If it were proven, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that this tomb is in fact the tomb of Jesus, would you remain a Christian? The universal answer was "yes."
My answer was emphatically "NO."
If Jesus and His followers lied about the Resurrection, how could I believe anything else they taught? My belief in a Higher Power may still be there, but the belief in Jesus as Son of God would become as the dust in the tomb.
It was the stubbornness of those religious leaders that give the impression of the lack of intellectual integrity of those who embrace a religious ideology.
I am 44 and female. I might also add I was an atheist for 18 years and am now a Catholic Christian.

Think of it in these two ways: One, unicorns. Do they exist? Yes! Now, am I completely out of my mind when answering this? No. You see, the world tells us that unicorns are the fuzzy, pink horses that eat candy all day. When in reality, unicorns are creatures that have one horn, such as a narwhal. God, just like the narwhal, doesn't fit into the mold society has made for Him. Jesus came as babe in a manger, not as a high-powered Donald Trump of the day. He didn't impose much of a threat. Why? Because the world wasn't expecting a humble babe. Also, consider the wind. We see its presence by seeing those things which it touches. The trees waving in the wind, flowers dancing in the breeze. Most of all, you must have faith. Every belief one has takes faith. If faith were explainable, it would be like all else, fading when the music stops and the colors die out, but faith, being so different, is the evidence of things hoped for and of things not seen.

The evidence that is available today would in no way be compelling enough to prove that there is no God. I actually see it the other way around. Just the statistical odds alone of our solar system coming together in just the precise way that is has with the perfect unison that it has (the moon rotating at just the right velocity and orbiting at just the right velocity to always have the same "face" pointed towards the earth), just by chance and gravitational forces, etc. is (excuse the pun) astronomical.
Available evidence aside, IF it could be proved that God does not exist, then, like anything else I would look at the information and have to decide if I would chose to believe and follow the truth or not. The same way that I have done to this point. I like to consider myself to be a truth seeker, and when presented with the proper evidence/information I will allow myself to change my opinion on issues.
That being said, I believe that living a Christ-like life style (WWJD) is still a very good way to live. A person who is truly living a Christian lifestyle will strive to make everyone else's lives around them better. The wisdom of Jesus Christ (God or not) is still compelling enough to live by. Just look at the Biblical law of loving your neighbor as yourself. We all seem to love ourselves very much! So, why not turn that love towards others and help make someone else's life better.
So in short, yes, I would look at the information (proof), choose the way of truth, but still live my life patterned after Jesus Christ. After all, IF there is no afterlife, then shouldn't we try to make this present life on earth better for everyone?
I hope this helps with your project.

I would go in beliving because it is my faith and that is how I was raised. I feel comfortable beliving it. IF that were ever proven, I would be alot older and wouldnt feel like changing my desicion because I made a whole life time of choices on this faith.
And Im not going to be like the other christians that said that this could never happen. I think it is a great topic to study.

The dictionary describes a " Hypothesis " as " something assumed for the purpose of arguement ", " a theory to explain some fact that may or may not prove to be true ", " supposition ", " conjecture ". Man has attempted to prove there is no God & no Jesus for eons, and thus far, they haven't even come close. If some person were to claim that absolute proof had been found that God & Jesus are myths, I would discount it and continue to believe in Jesus Christ as my personal Savior, because I could not deny my Savior & King !

well therein lies the problem ,see faith does not need proof.
faith is the belieif without seeing or proof.see people who believe without proof are in a brainwashed or denial state and do not want you to take thier "god" away from them its like a blankey of comfort .
the sooner they realize things do not have to have a reason and that things are not controlled, they will come out of thier haze and back to reality.
there is actually something called "deprogramming"for people who have been heavily brainwashed by cult leaders.
i feel all religion is a form or semi-cult of this brainwash.
but i am convinced that it exists because religion is very lucrative.
look at the evidence there is no proof of any type of creator
no matter its name or origin yet people will continue to follow these religions
they have to be in denial
i have no other answer

This may not qualify, but when I was a Christian, I realized through research, objective reading of the bible, observation and some very, very careful thinking that there was no proof for a god. Therefore I am now an atheist. Male 46.

Of course I would want to know.
Because I am interested in the truth, whatever that may be.

Of course, it could never be proven either way that God exists or not.
