And this question comes from an "honorable Vietnam Vet" named Erudite? It is to laugh.
Deserters are not honorable, nor are they outstanding, just a bunch of loudmouths. Deserters do not deserve to have anyone pay any attention to them. They deserve a prison cell for the rest of their life.
So, no, I will not pay any attention to them. I WILL, however, pay attention to someone who has served honorably for the entire term of their contract. And those I have spoken to are unanimous in their desire to stay in Iraq and finish the job we started. These honorable soldiers continue to re-enlist and volunteer to return to Iraq and Afghanistan.
Honorable people don't run away from trouble. Get that through your head, Erudite.

When a vastly superior number of honorable Iraq War Veterans speak, will YOU listen?
You do realize that it's never going to be a hundred percent don't you? You do realize that a certain percentage will be opposed to anything, don't you? And you do realize that these guys are far from being a majority, right? And do you realize that there just might be an ulterior motive for some of these guys? I wonder how many, given their service in Iraq, would side with the 'progressives' and support surrender. That'd be an interesting question to pose. Bet you'd see a lot of blank stares.
I appreciate their opinion and their service.
Let's move on now, shall we?

I have trouble placing anyone into the category "outstanding" when they violate an oath that they swore to uphold.
Maybe you should rethink your values regardless of your political opinions.
From your question I take it that you want people to listen to what "honorable Iraqi War veterans" have to say. Well I am a veteran of OIF and these people make me sick honestly.
Some of the people you are showcasing disobeyed orders, deserted, or both. In past wars people such as this could have been put to death.
There is nothing "outstanding" about these people accept their ability to get away with blatant treason while serving as a member of the US armed forces.
They violated their oath, bottom line.

There is nothing honorable in leaving your fellow warriors behind on the field of battle. And that is EXACTLY what the one coward did. Came home on leave, and went AWOL. That man has no honor. When you join the military, you give up a certain amount of the very rights you fight to protect. You don't get to make policy or decide if it's right or wrong. You go where you are told and you do what you are told. AFTER you serve your time, if you want to grow long hair and become a hippie protester, fine. But to encourage others to disobey orders, and to abandon their comrades, is reprehensible. In WWI & WWII these cowards would have been shot. man, I miss the good ole days.

Yes! As a disable dvet from the early 80s, I would march to help get the word out. We are in a b*ll S**t war for a BS reason and it's time to stand up and be heard. I applaud the brave vets and what they are trying to do. Wow, 10,000 deserters? Amazing!

When I hear one that is Honorable Speak I will listen but I have yet to hear one that is speaking out about the war be one of those. I have seen some get out because they were sh!7 bags and barely got a general discharges speak out. The only people that don't like the Military that served were the ones in trouble all the time

yes, i was one of those durin the vietnam war that was gettin a clear picture of what was really goin on, and the iraqi vets that are against the war are the ones that still think for themselves and are not just a clone for the administration that sent them to war!!
i think it will be a little easier for them these days if they stick together and bring things out in the open and make a commitment to their cause!!!
but we all know how the military, and the administration can make your life miserable if ya try and stand alone!!
but if your willin to make the sacrifice you will succede!!!
i am honarably discharged, not a traitor, did my duty, just still have independent thought!!
i am disabled now and life has put me through some really hard knocks but hey im still on a mission i guess or i wouldnt be here!!

Why does he have to be an Iraq Vet?
Do Desert Storm, Korea, Vietnam, WWII vets not count?

I would certainly listen to any of these vets. I don't think any less of them for being able to express their views. After what they must have seen over there, they should have every right to determine for themselves how they feel about their service, and if they choose to go on another tour or not.

I will listen to any reasonable Iraqi. Gosh we should be tripping over ourselves to hear what they have to say. Certainly not setting limits of just who we talk to. After all they are all suffering and dying together...Mary
