Some people don't believe in the Tooth Fairy either. Or trolls under the stairs, or the Easter Bunny.Go figure.
You believe in what you want to believe in.
I, with my feeble litle human brain, will continue to believe that everyone born, dies. Everyone has an umbilical cord and a mother. Everyone has biological daddy, and not a swan, cloud, ghost or "god." Biology is right.about these things.
There may or may not be a creator thing that made all this to begin with. Whether there is or isn't concerns me very little. I am busy taking care of my life, living well, taking care of my friends, children, and even strangers.
I do not believe in a heaven that is a place. I believe you create your own hell and heaven with your choices and attitude about life.
I believe in personal responsibility for my life.
If I live forever, in my mind, or in another plane, fine. I will be fine, just like I am here. If I don't, I gave this the best run I knew how to give.
I don't believe in your Jesus, as a savior in a heaven forever, because it doesn't make any sense.
If we are supposed to believe any ridiculous thing, why do we have a consciousness and senses, and the ability to understand ANYTHING?
Why you need to believe in fairy tales to help you be a good and purposeful person?
I can't understand.

Hello,

Though I am Christian I can put myself in the shoes of other people and understand their doubts:

1) To atheists, there is no tangible proof or emperical evidence for God and Jesus. We are relying on the word of a handful of people who lived in the first century and no one has ever come back from being really dead nor has he made an appearance to verify his existence.

2) To the Jews, Jesus has not fufilled many of the prophecies the scriptures predicted and these prophecies of been mentioned in many other discussions. In short, the lamb has not layed down with the lion and Isreal was not restored to her greatness etc. Many prophets have come and gone claiming to be him and 30 years after Christ Bar Jesus came along, started an intially succesful revolt against Rome but eventually was destroyed and the Jews dispersed.

3) Islam - They see Jesus as a great prophet like Moses, Elija, Daniel etc but they say it is illogical to believe that God can make God so Jesus is not God. Allah is the only God, and the God of Abraham and Mohamed is his last messenger and final word. That is that.

There are so many other religions that have their reasons but the above three groups should give you a good idea as to why their are doubts.

Cheers,

Michael Kelly

Why don't you believe in Santa Clause?

You have to admit...

The "miracles" that are purported to have been done by this man 2000 years ago, are pretty "far-fetched...!"

There are a huge number of contradictions between the four Gospels, and even if he did do some incredible, seemingly "magical" feats that defy normal explanation, it doesn't mean that is biological father is the one and only almighty creator of the entire universe...

The whole thing sounds absurd...Virgin Birth? Yeah, right! Raised people from the dead...okay...maybe they were just in a coma, or he gave them CPR...walked on water? He knew where a submerged sandbar was just below the surface...Fed a huge crowd of people with one loaf of bread?...okay...but they were very small pieces, the loaf was the size of a mini-van, and five minutes later, everybody was hungry again...Rose from the dead after being crucified? His disciples simply paid off the Roman guards, and took him down from the cross before he died, dressed up his wounds, and revived him from unconsciousness...

Every "miracle" has an easy, "not-so-mysterious-when-you-think-about-it" explanation...

You've been brainwashed since you were a child...

Think for yourself...if this "belief" wasn't drummed into your head your whole life, you'd be a little more skeptical...

There is sufficient evidence to assume the existence of a person named Jesus. However, it is the divinity part that many people have a problem with. Buddha, Shiva, and several other have their root and origin in the same tale as Jesus. All were alleged to be martyred for their cause, all were likewise seen as divine some 100 years after their passing, and all were said to sacrifice their lives for the "sins" of man. However, none of them were true believers in the faith of their times, and none of them were strickly adherent to the dogma of their day. I believe each of them were men...just men... of their day who had an impact on those around them. It is only later that the implication of divinity was introduced, and in truth, I believe they would be embarassed with this association today.

Well the reason people don't believe in him, is because they are fed a lie every day from the Devil that tells them they don't need God. That they can do it themselves. The Devil has people so wrapped up in "self" they never even know anything different. People think they will loose somthing by becoming a Christian, but it is the exact opposite. They gain eternal life and joy is placed in their heart.

The American Church teachs lies that decieves thousands of people. You can not just say a prayer one time that you believe in Jesus and expect to go to heaven. You must believe in Jesus and live your life as he did. The bible says once you have gained salvation, go and make more diciples of Christ. It doesn't say once you are saved, you can live howerver you want and make it into heaven.

Try this on: Jesus tells me that I am to forgive 7 times 70 even if the other person is unrepentant (implied by them doing the same thing 490 times in a single day); and here's the kicker, but God who loves us perfectly makes us choose between being forgiven and departing eternally from him. Seems at best like a bad example...

Other reasons:
1. There is no proof of any event that the bible records
2. There is massive evidence of evolution and the lack of design.
3. There is no evidence of god or any deity.

How in the heck did you know that Jesus wants me for his own?
I wasn't even born yet when he was still around. What a big ego you have there for believing only Christians can go to heaven.

You can't understand. That's nothing to be worried about. It's a difficult idea to wrap your head around.

Look at it this way. Jesus is very real to you. Jesus is probably the ground of your being.

At one time, when you were much younger, Santa was just as real, but now you no longer believe in Santa. This absence of belief is the same as other people absence of belief in Jesus.

All of the things that Jesus represents to you, salvation, etc, are not real to people who don't believe in Jesus.

i believe in god, and i believe jesus is the son of god.
i pray not all the time but the few times i did i really got my answers.

at the end of the day it all comes back to you,. you have right to believe and a right not . it is all a choice.

this choice that i made gives me love, peace and hope when all around me is dark. it is just an amazing feeling when you feel and actually believe that you are not alone and someday all will be be fine,

believing just rocks me . gives me hope every day of my life.

what are you talking about. most people believe Jesus, the Nazarene who died on the cross, existed. a lot of people however find it hard to believe that he was the son of god, born to a virgin mother, who died for the sins of mankind then rose from the cross three days later and ascended into heaven. it sounds like a fairytale. it's a story that i wish i had come up with. so ridiculous. i could go on on this subject forever. you believe. others aren't so gullible.
