I mean would they be like half-saved or what?

2007-08-22 07:32:57 · 41 answers · asked by Anonymous in Society & Culture Religion & Spirituality

By the way, I have been raised a Catholic and have been attending a Catholic church all my life. I ask this question basically because I am starting to wonder if my baptism as a baby was valid. Now that I am older, should I go to a Non-Catholic church and get 'baptised' again but by full immersion?

Jesus was perfect & He was baptized by water. So, how much more do we NEED to be baptized, being imperfect.

There are 3 degrees of glory in heaven & without being baptized you cannot reach the highest degree of glory, or the Celestial Kingdom, where God the Father resides.

CUMBO: Jesus didn't promise the thief salvation He said I will see you this day in paradise.
NETTYONE 2003: Paradise & heaven are not the same thing or place.

Listen to the words of Christ, your Redeemer, your Lord and your God:
Behold, I came into the world not to call the righteous but sinners to repentance; the whole need no physician, but they that are sick; wherefore, little children are whole, for they are not capable of committing sin; wherefore the curse of Adam is taken from them in me, that it hath no power over them.

When you were baptized as an infant your parents chose to baptize you.
I know that it is solemn mockery before God, that ye should baptize little children.
You need to be baptized again by YOUR CHOICE.

Not being baptized is commiting the unpardonable sin. Baptism is part of the requirement to be saved. Being baptised as an infant has nothing to do with going to heaven. The Bible says nothing about infants getting baptised. Jesus said repent and be baptized. He was talking to adults not children. An infant does not know right from wrong. Infant baptism does not save you. You have to repent of your sins, recognize Jesus as your personal Saviour, and be baptised. An infant cannot repent of their sins. They are not aware of sin at that time in their life. They are not able to choose to follow God or not. I think you need to study your Bible and pray about this more. The Catholic church does not follow all of the Bible. There is so much more to it than that.

No I believe that they are saved the moment they put their full trust and confidence in Jesus as their Saviour.
Most people who make a commitment to Christ don't immediately go and get baptised (I didn't) even though this could be argued for from scripture.
People cannot be half-saved they are either saved or lost.
John 3:16 If you believe in Jesus (for the forgiveness of sins) you will be saved although baptism is recommended.

I know I am going to get all kinds of thumbs down for this. However, The main problem with Christainity is even they can not agree on which way they "get into heaven"

I was sitting there one day feeling really good about myself thinking I was "saved" I was watching Christain TV and there was this long explaination of why I was not "really" saved. I started researching the many different ways to be "saved" and realized it was a big song and dance. I am telling you this if it is that hard to figure out it means that God was not concerned enough about it to make it crystal clear. And if it is claimed to have eternal reward/punishment I think it should be. So since it's not I can only conclude that if there is a God he is not Christain.

If they believed in Jesus, they would immediately seek baptism, for he said to do this, and even submitted to it himself at the start of his own ministry.

If they died before they could be baptized, in the Catholic church we call this "baptism by intent," meaning the grace of baptism is imparted even if the act of baptism did not take place.

Mark 16:16 says, "He that believes AND is baptized, shall be saved." Not he that believes and is saved shall be baptized.

Baptism is for the remission (taking away) of our sins (Acts 2:38, Romans 6:4,5, Acts 22:16, 1st Peter. 3:31)

(1) God remits sins at water baptism (Acts 2:38; 22:16).
(2) Water baptism is part of the new birth. The baptized person is born of water, which simply refers to the spiritual work God performs in him (John 3:5; Titus 3:5).
(3) Baptism identifies us with the death and burial of Jesus (Romans 6:1-4; Colossians 2:12).
(4) Water baptism is part of the one baptism of water and Spirit that places us into the body of Christ (Romans 6:3-4; Galatians 3:27).
(5) Water baptism is part of our spiritual circumcision (Colossians 2:11-13).

It sounds like you have been reading the WORD OF GOD... good for you. Yes the infant baptism was an involutary choice and a church tradition. it is not scriptural.. now ababy dedication is ok, and for that you can look at your catholic baptism as such.. but you have to make a choice, and as long as you CAN get baptised, yes it is scriptural. JESUS did not need to be washed of HIS sins, but HE did it as an example to us.. so follow JESUS, not tradition..and read what JESUS said about following the doctrines taught by men..

Water baptism is not essential to salvation. Check out Luke 23: 42-44. The thief on the cross was promised salvation by Jesus and he was not baptised. However I have to admit it was a wonderful experience. Get dunked when you are ready.

♥Information♥

Yes he should go to church and have a small ceremony alone or with a friend. It helps to love to be in a church and claim that faith.

My boyfriend wants to marry me and he is a hindu but he will have to get baptised at church and then marry me. That is how you can prove love to Jesus not from others forcing you but on your very own. Bye
