I was watching 20/20 on Friday and this one guy said on there that the secret to good abs is in the diet. http://abcnews.go.com/2020/story?id=3483082&page=1
He said to eat low fat, high protein, good carbs, good fats and fruits. he said eat 3 meals and 3 snacks a day. I'm going to try it but I'm at a standstill.
For starters I'm Asian so I always have one to two meals of white rice a day. No one in the family is willing to by brown rice or cook it. How much would eating that white rice affect the diet this person is suggesting?
Also because of my job it's difficult to find time to eat except for my lunch. Usually I only have 2 minutes to open my locker and grab something to eat. I've started to snack on mixed nuts but I know sooner or later I'm going to get bored of it. What else can I keep in my locker that fits this diet? It has to be able to survive in there for at least 2 weeks without refridgeration.

it all comes down to your cardio, really - I used to run 6-7 miles every morning within an hour - eat breakfast, go back to gym and lift weights - by 9 am, I had already done my cardio and weights - your diet is important but it's also important to continue to eat in a way that will be easy for you to reproduce daily - if you're eating things you don't like, it ain't gonna last - I did what was called the "zig zag" method which is a 4 day cycle of food - for 3 days, you limit your carbs to under 50 grams per day and eat as much good protein as you can (fish, eggs, meat, chicken, tuna, cheese,) and then on the 4th day you carb up to 250 carbs grams per day - rice, potatoes, bread, etc on this 4th day but keep your portions under control - your body never gets used to what you're doing and you will see results FAST - I lost 19 pounds of fat in just over 3 months - no, I didn't say I lost 19 pounds I said I lost 19 pounds OF FAT - I was about 8-9% body fat and I was a solid 191 pounds and I'm only 5'9" - it works like a charm and I still go to it every now and then to lose a couple of pounds when they creep on - you have to be disciplined but the cardio and weights are key - good luck

The best range to lose weight in is 1 to 2.5 lbs a week. This will allow your body to accustom itself to the loss and the skin to regain its prestretched stage. Losing weight too quickly will cause the skin of abdomen, chest and inner thighs to sag, possibly dramatically. I don’t personally believe in any of the fad diets that keep showing up. I think that they put your body into an unhealthy famine mode which will cause you to gain the fat right back if you start to eat normally again. The best idea is to eliminate all junk food. You can do a cheat day if you need to but don’t go overboard. Eat balanced meals of reasonable size. Overeating will cause your stomach to be too large and you will still feel hungry when you’re not. Also have lots of healthy snacks during the day. Ideally you’ll want to eat 5 or 6 small meals throughout the day. Carry food with you so you aren’t tempted to eat unhealthily when you’re out of the house. And don’t buy unhealthy foods. Get foods that are low in bad fats—we do need fat to survive but not saturated fat. Minimize the processed flours and sugars, no white bread, no sugar. Choose leaner meats and protein sources. Don’t expect to eat pizza and burritos all the time and lose weight. And eat tons of vegetables. Eat salads, steamed vegetables and raw vegetables too. You can’t eat so much celery that you’ll get fat. Don’t eat too much fruit or things containing high fructose corn syrup. The reason is that fructose is hard on the liver because it can only be metabolized there. You can eat fruit during or after a workout. Don’t eat late at night because your body will turn it into fat. Eat a smaller amount of calories than needed to maintain your weight. You have burn more than you intake. Always exercise. Cardio especially, but weights are good too. Don’t give up. You’ll be glad you chose to lose the weight.

go easy on rice. I also used to eat lot of rice. Not good.
Eat more vegetables.
Eat raw food bars. You can buy at whole food markets. Like lara bar. Initially make small changes and add more changes to your diet gradually.
Change comes from you not from your family. Because it is easy to change yourself. Do not expect change from anybody. Believe me that is very hard. I waited years for people to change. Never happend.

they have special k bars that come individually wrapped but in a box. and also you have to be careful for stuff that says fat free because sugar turns into fat. this may help a little I'm not sure!

Go with fruits: a banana or an apple. Special K bars are very effective, too.
