My son needs a new pair of sneakers for back to school, and he says he wants skater shoes. I'm not too fond of the look so to compromise, is there a cross between a shoe like adidas and nike, and a "skater" shoe.

I don't care what the shoes look like, I want my son to have the shoes he wants. I just want them to have the comfort of nikes or adidas. Skater shoes look as if they don't have cushioning, and was wondering if I could find a pair of skate shoes with the comfort and cushion of Nike or Adidas.

Actually, skater shoes are the MOST cushy and comfortable! My son will only wear those. He says they're the best ones. I used to wear them too. They're very comfy, and are made to withstand a lot of wear and tear.

Why not get him the shoes he wants? Just because YOU aren't fond of them? How would you feel if your husband went shopping with you-he paying for the items-and he wouldn't buy you a certain top because he didn't like it? Not realy fair, is it? Let him get the shoes he wants. He's at that age where he wants the things his friends have-skater shoes are the thing right now. Let him pick out the shoes. Save your fight for bigger battles to come..

Take him to the shoe store and see if you find a pair that you both like.

as far as i know, you can't go wrong with nike. he might be tempted by some nice bball shoes too.

I only wear asics, but that's cause I can't afford normal shoes once I pay 100 bucks for running shoes.

It shouldn't really matter what you prefer. Your son is the one wearing the shoes. As long as they are in your price range is this really worth fighting over?

"I want my son to have the shoes he wants" Who is the parent? You or your son? I wouldn't allow my kid to have those shoes, it would either be MY choice or go to school barefooted.

Try Etnies, Vans, or possibly Sketchers.
