The Mormons were not the only ones who used racism in their religion. Many Southern Baptist Preachers twisted the scriptures to further their own racist agenda. Let's not forget that the KKK is a so-called Christian organization. John Newton, who wrote "Amazing Grace" was a prolific Slave Trader. The famous slave ship that carried many African Slaves to their deaths or worst their enslavement was named "Jesus Christ". So one can see that there is a long history of racism in Christianity, in the western world.

Racism has nothing to do with Christianity. The Gospel does not allow racism. It was the delusion that many wrong things had been done under the name of Christ. People who did such things could not inherit the kingdom of God.

In Buddhism there is no Racism or Castesism--it is why Dr.Bhima Rao Ambedhkar,Bar-at law(England) Ph.D., D.Sc.,the Father of Indian Constitution, born in a Scheduled(most backward) Caste with his 3000 followers joined Bhuddism -some of his followers suggested Christianity,- But Dr.Ambedhkar who lived in England for his higher Education was fully aware of Racism and "Slave Trade"in Western countries and he selected Bhuddhism, because the Religion not only condemns but do not practice any kind of discrimnation on the basis of Race, caste, creed,(skin) colour, ethnicity etc.I am not Bhuddhist-I am a Hindu.

It's pretty sad actually..but I don't think that religion teaches us to be racist. In Christianity, there is no racism in the Bible (at least not what I've read). In Islam, there is no racism in the Quran or any Islamic readings. It's the random people that create racism and try and use the Bible or the Quran as back up...such as Nation of Islam (Black Nationalism) or the KKK or whoever the groups of people maybe.

As a Christian I think that anyone who pracices any type of racism is wrong for even taking on that name!
Christ does not teach racism in any way shape or form!!! I believe racism toward someone either because of thier color, race, sexual orientation, anything like that is SO WRONG!!!!! Some versus that are brought up is that God hates homosexuality. If you actually study the origional greek it means that the action is not o.k., but the people are dearly loved. I may not agree with and may consider wrong the actions of people who are in the homosexual life, or abortionsists who kill babies, etc. but I do not judge the people!! They are still God's creation whom just have chosen to take the wrong path of action. They are still loved by God and far be it from me to hold anything against them!!

The past is the past...Racism exists in real life..not just amongst religious followers....It exists in the inner city, in the suburbs between all races, their are racist white people, black people, indian people, asian people..you name it...it is just a sad fact of life..and it probably will always exist to some degree unfortunately... I however, refuse to take the blame for what people did over a hundred years ago (and in the earlier parts of this century) Because I was not born, nor do I agree with what was done to the black community, nor do I agree with what was done to the Japanese community...So it isn't just in Christianity my friend..it is just life..

Religions, as far as I can see, are all tribes. It's a tribal mentality. They can range from fairly harmless to outright fascism. Nowadays the trend seems to be towards the latter

You can't blame the religion, or even the "God" of the religion - it's the people.
