My family and I just moved from this really "great" place in the Middle East. It had no tax, my dad got a little bit more money than America, and he worked for 9 hours or so. When we came to America, my dad works for KBR and earns a little less than the Middle East, we pay tax, and my dad works for 12 hours or so. What do you think we should do? Go back or stay here? Thanks for your advice!

Also, the school in the Middle East didn't seem to prepare me for America, so education there might be bad.

The place in the Middle East is peaceful and safe, but my family lives in America.

Consider yourself very fortunate! You are a first generation immigrant [?] with your family INTACT in a free country. You have the CHOICE of either staying, or going back to a familiar comfort zone where you grew up.

However, you cannot and must not deny your parents' dream of securing your welfare and future --by giving you, your siblings, and your future descendants the choice of both worlds.

Many people would die to be in your shoes right now. Read about all the refugees and immigrants that have been written about in the history books, especially those who have survived and succeeded in making a name for themselves.

Understand that it is human nature to resist change. And as you continue to mature, you will realize and appreciate all the sacrifices that your parents have done and are undergoing for you and your siblings to enjoy the "best" of all worlds.

Ultimately, your own FUTURE is in your hands and it will depend on the CHOICES that you make today.

Peace be with you.

If you don't like things the way they are here, then go back to that "really great place" in the Middle East where terrorists can blow your head off for no reason other than exalt themselves with Allah. I admit there are a lot of things in this country that can be improved upon, however there are also greater opportunites to improve one's financial condition and enjoy the freedoms here. If you turn criminal and steal a loaf of bread in the U.S., you could get in trouble, but you won't be executed. I hope that gives you a little insight, but if you still find things intolerable here, bon voyage.

It depends, are you looking for a safer, if slightly lower standard of living, or a higher standard looking over your shoulder all the time?

My choice would be to stay in the US and work for a better life for my children and grandchildren.

This is a decision your whole family has to make, and no one else can make it for you. You all need to consider your current happiness as well as your long-term goals. Consider quality of life, access to opportunities, legal rights, and social freedoms as well as income and working hours.
