I have gof tryouts tomarrow morning at 9:40 at Harmon Golf Club in Rockland.I didnt try out my freshman year because I knew I wouldnt make it. This year im not sure. I went golfing 2 times this week and hit a 52 and a 51 after 9 holes. The cutoff is a 54. I tried to keep an honest score but a few strokes here and there i didnt count. I know that that doesnt help. I also dont know anyone on the team there. I know one kid but im not friends. Everyone else has firends. Im jstu worried that if i hit a hook on the first tee its gonna be like a joke to try out! And plus i dont know the coach very well so im not sure if hes gonna think im a waste of his time.

Thanks for the advice and help in advance.

Most coach's like mine will keep sophomores like you because golfers like you who are dedicated will turn around your next year or so. I am not going to lie it is the worst feeling ever when you don't know any one and your game will get worse because you are competing to be on the team nerves will mess you up alot you really just need to focus on the shot at hand and don't think about what score you need to shoot to be on the team. My advice try to be really friendly and make new friends before the coach sends of teams, don't be cocky, as for the coach just kiss a$$ and try not to freeze up when he is watching you. Also know your rules a coach likes it when he sees a kid that knows his rules and regulations dress nicely and don't mess around this is a big commitment but it is also really fun you will make lots of friends. And will have a new appreciation of the game. To make you feel better i shot a 59 yesterday that was literally the worst game i have ever had i usually shoot in the low 40s don't be nervous and have fun. you only live once do what you love.

message me if you wanna talk about and let me know how it went Good Luck
PS. dont be afraid to ask for help

That was my problem. I didn't try out freshman year but I worked on my game that whole year and I made junior varsity this year (sophmore) and I play for varsity when they need someone - which is quite a bit. I didn't know any girls on the team - -i knew the coach a little. But I went up to the first tee and totally messed up my shot. The girls I was playing with started to laugh and I just grabbed my clubs and moved on. I loved the sport so much that I wasn't going to let them get in my way. If you love the sport, you should let some guys who are better than you get in the way of you playing a sport you want to play and get better at. The thing is, once you get past the try outs -- you are set! I know we practice 3 hours a day if we aren't playing. So, thats a ton of time to improve from August to November. If the guys give you a hard time, don't even bother talking to them. If you make the team - they will regret making fun of you because you will improve and some day possibly beat them. The coach shouldn't think you are a waste of his time. We had a girl try out this year that shot like a 60 on 9 holes and the coach walked with her and gave her pointers and tips to help her play better and she didn't make the team BUT, she is taking lessons now and I played with her today and she has improved. If the coach does think you are a waste of his time, you need to talk to the Athletics Director, a coach of any sport should welcome any kid to try. If you don't make the team -- work as hard as you possibly can over the next year and i can guarantee if you work - you will make the team next year.
Main thing - just ignore everyone around you unless a nice kid is trying to help you. Focus on the game. You have to be honest with try outs. Let someone know if you see another kid not counting a stroke or two -- for the benefit of both of you. And just have fun. You shouldn't be too pressured or else you won't play well. Just enjoy the game and try your hardest. If you dont make it this year, try again next year. Its a great sport to play. Oh and if you don't make it this year... meet some of the guys and start talking to them in school or on facebook or whatever and maybe you could go play a couple rounds or something. Have fun!! Good Luck tomorrow!!! :)

im on the girls golf team, and ik the pressure for tryouts but think about it. what do you have to lose by just trying out. a ton of guys at my high school try out and yea a ton do get cut, but if they never tried out how would they know if they should have made the team or not? its a chance you gota take, and just aim way to the left and tee your ball up on the side where your problem or the hazard is because it will make you hit the ball more to the left and over correct your slice. or if its a hook just do the opposite. good luck tomorrow!

Give it your best shot without all the extra pressure you're putting on yourself.

So what if you don't know anybody. If you make the team, you'll get to know them.

First tee shot can be a difficult one. Somehow you have to find a way to relax. Just focus on making a great shot and believe it. So what if you hook it. It's just one shot.

For your tryouts, forget about what the coach might be thinking. You have to play your game so bring it. Get a little cocky and excited to play for a spot that's yours for the taking rather than a chance to fail.

The easiest way to learn golf like a pro is by following "The Simple Golf Swing" program. It's primarily a 31 page eBook that teaches golfers how to make solid contact with the ball, how to avoid hitting fat, how to avoid slicing, how get more power, accuracy, and consistency in your swing. Consistency being the number 1 golf skill.

You not only get the eBook though, you also receive a ton of extra material including video, lessons on putting, driving, chipping, sand play etc. Here is their official site: http://www.golfswingguru.net

If you know you can make it then you can. I have been number one on my team since i was a freshman and i can tell you for a fact on the first hole i either open up with a HUGE!!! hook on the first tee or i score in a 7 for the first hole. Remember you still have 8 other holes to make up for it and a whole other golf course to play. Don't get hung up on what you can do wrong. just know that you can do it right. good luck!

I did the same thing in high school. My parents pushed me to try out for the golf team and I couldn’t even break 100. If you can’t break 100 or 50 for 18 hole or 9 holes of golf, you probably shouldn’t be trying out for golf.

It will also make it worse if you’re on the course and you’re not friends with anyone. I don’t know about your golf team, but mine was a bunch of richy preppy kids. Wait till you break 95 and then try out for the team. Do whatever you can to make the team. There’s no other circumstance where you can play unlimited golf for free.

My friends who are really good at golf now, got good because they played in high school. Paying for rounds and rounds of golf and paying for lessons is really expensive.

Try out next year if you can shoot low 90s by then. (Don't count golf by 9 holes.)

Just go out there to have fun, if you make the team, look at it as a bonus. Putting pressure on yourself will not help but having a good time will. If you hit a bad shot, so what, we all do. You have many years to improve your game.

Good Luck.
