ok i was talking to my neighbor on her porch shes an illegal immigrant she was saying that the US government was ******* up and stuff like that all i said was why dont you just legalize she said for your information dont you think ive tried the damn president asks for alot of stuff i cant even get a visa! and she went on and on about how mean americans are and how come they dont give them a chance then she said that if we were in mexico she would like to call the mexican immigration on us like we do for them to see how it felt then she spat on the floor called me a racist and slammed the door in my face!! I AM NOT A RACIST all i made was a comment so was this racist and what can i do about the situation?

How about going over to her house and telling her you did not want to insult her in any way and you' re sorry. Ask her to kindly explain what you said to her that got her so upset. Admit you are not at all familiar with the immigration issue and could she explain it to you.
She is your neighbor, your fellow human and obviously a woman who could use a friend during a time when she has none.
You both may end up learning something.
Don't spread or listen to hate.

No, she did not misunderstand you, she is doing anything she can to spin things in her favor! That is what illegals do!!!
They try to make it sound like they have to go through ten million things in order to become a citizen: "the damn president asks for alot of stuff i cant even get a visa!". Fact is they don't WANT to become citizens. They just want to abuse the system!!!!
Illegals say Americans are mean and racist. It seems everytime someone comes out against illegal immigrants, we are labeled racist! Last time I checked illegal is NOT a race!!
You should call immigration on her and her family!

People use the racist term when it suits them.
If your neighbor came over illegally, then she has no room to complain. If she came over by way of a visa then she has a point. The process takes at least 5 years and there are loads of forms one has to fill out.
People like to use the racist term when they can't defend their position or when they feel that your trying to put them down in some fashion. This DOES vary from person to person so I am not going to put everyone as a racist. Some folks use this term because its the only way they know. If one has been told all of their lives that x people always put down people from the y race down, they will tend to use the term racist more often.
As for what to do, give it a few days and talk to your neighbor about her situation. Don't make judgements, but try and listen to what she has to say. One thing you don't want to do is to give any solutions this can make matters worse. Then explain your general feelings about illegal immigrants but don't be specific.

No you were not being racist. There must be some reason she cannot get a visa. The immigration process is there for a reason. It is to protect us from criminals, mental patients, sick or diseased persons, basically from another countries undesirables. Many become offended because we want to defend our right to live safely and in clean neighborhoods. There isn't much you can do. They hold us to a totally different standard than they hold themselves. For one thing, they do not allow poor people to come to their country for a better life. They beat and torture them if they try.

Maybe you said it in a threatening tone.. but you do have to understand that it is very hard for Mexicans to legalize themselves I know they are just south of the border but of all the countries in the world Mexicans have it the hardest...
