Make as many contacts as possible, even if they are not in the same field you hope to be in.

BE YOURSELF, DONT TRY TO FAKE IT
LEAVE YOUR NOSE RINGS, TONGUE RINGS AND BLING AT HOME.
TELL THE TRUTH, DONT TRY TO WISHY WASH YOUR WAY THRU THE INTERVIEW.
GET YOUR HAIR TRIMMED BEFORE THE INTERVIEW AND SHAVE IF YOU ARE A MAN.
MAKE EYE CONTACT WITH THE INTERVIEWER AND AVOID LAUGHING OR TELLING CORNY JOKES UNLESS YOU ARE APPLYING FOR A JOB IN A COMEDY FACTORY
WEAR A WHITE SHIRT OR A LITE COLORED SHIRT AND MAKE SURE YOUR SHOES ARE CLEAN
I AM NOT KIDDING WHEN I TELL YOU 3 YRS AGO, I INTERVIEWED A MD WHO APPLIED TO OUR HOSPITAL. HE FLEW IN FROM ANOTHER STATE AND FORGOT HIS DRESS SHOES AND WORE DIRTY SNEAKERS WITH HIS SUIT TO THE INTERVIEW. HE DID NOT GET THE JOB, PROBABLY BECAUSE HE WAS RATTLE BRAINED.

Be confident but not cocky. Let them know you know what you are doing. Oh and dress nice. All the way from your hair to your shoes and socks.
