Examining evidence for what you believe is logical in all cases. Christian or not. It is healthy to require evidence of Christ's claims. Just as Thomas did. He demanded "I won't believe it unless I see the nail wounds in his hands, put my fingers into them, and place my hand into the wound in his side."(John 20:25) 8 Days later, Jesus honored Thomas's request. Thomas then knew why he believed what he believed. Such understanding is vital.Of course, no matter how thouroughly convincing evidence may be, we must still excersise faith. Jesus invited Thomas to excersice faith; however, the faith that was called for was not blind faith but an informed, intelligent faith, one that is supported by evidence. Believing in something w/o evidence is like jumping into the dark. Faith that is rooted in Truth(that we have reason to believe is objectively true)is what we should be grounded in. Not blind faith. Isn't "Blind Faith" rediculous and an irrelevent term being that evidence has been presented

There has been plenty of evidence presented in many Historical Documents. (Other than the Bible)
Perhaps not in a totally convincing way that Jesus is the Son of God. But even evidence that He existed alone, rule out "Blind Faith"...

"Blind Faith" could ONLY be relevent if there was NO EVIDENCE AT ALL...
but since there is... "Blind Faith" claims are rediculous.

Karenita- I mean that for people to look at Christianity and say that those who believe it are ignorant and uninformed. Or claim that we believe on "Blind Faith" alone is rediculous. Because obviously "Blind Faith" is irrelevent being that there has been some (even if it is just a little) still, some...evidence presented.

Reincarnation Ridiculous?? No, I wouldn't say that exactly. ... I would say that the whole idea is banana's! You'd have to be completely "Looney Tunes" to believe in that!! .... Just Think about it. IF this is really what happens to us all after death, "Where is Everybody?" ... FACT 1/ The population of today's world, is not equal to the amount of people who have lived & died in the past. ... This means that if more people have lived in the past than are alive today, then where are all the other people who do not have bodies to reincarnate into? It also means that if More people are alive today than in the whole of history,, how is it that only SOME of these people contain a reincarnated person? If we are all just recycled, it means that many people on earth today Do NOT have souls or spirits!! These people Do Not have a reincarnated 'Life Force', so how can they even exist? ... It is Not Possible! .... OR Look at it This Way,,, Someone will say that our Life Force is Energy & our bodies are just a container for them. Someone will say that Energy goes on & on even after the container is destroyed. Well, are you Sure about that? .... If our bodies were an electrical power station & our life force was the electricity generated, that would be fine as long as the power station is working. But What happens when it is made to stop & no longer work at all? The Body would be dead. Energy, is not only created, it must also be continually 'fuelled' for it to continue to exist. Once that power station stops working, creating fuel for electricity, the electricity Ceases To Exist! ... So,, If it has nothing else to go into, if it is not being Generated & pumped into another power station or households, then the electricity or "Life Force" Ceases to Exist. ..... When a Power station is shut down, does the electricity alreay created continue to light up your house & work your appliances? ... NO. So how can anyone believe in Reincarnation, unless they have some severe mental disability???.............................. EDIT:::: Of course,, I 'Could' be Wrong! ... & If I am Wrong & If there really IS Reincarnation & IF we get a choice of what to be reincarnted as,,,, then I'll choose to 'come back' as the drill of an oil well. That way,, I will get to screw the world!

Are you really a Christian? I mean true Christian? One who truly follows Christ and prays to Him and gives Him everything you can? What you've been saying implies that you are not. Just because someone goes to church doesn't make them a Christian. And just because someone studies the Bible doesn't make them a Christian, either (ever heard of Holy Cow? He changed his screen name to "deli lama". He read the Bible, and it was pretty obvious that he did his research, but he certainly was not a Christian. He even admitted it.). We don't have to see everything to believe it. God won't just give us miracles on demand; He does as He sees fit, dude. Most of the time, there's no way to know He's there, except for the peace inside of you when He really is, and only the person with the peace and God know about for sure. Do you have to ask them for proof that God's there? You can't see it. But what difference does it make?
There are lots of other things that require blind faith to believe in. Evolution, for example. Those retarded scientists weren't there. They saw nothing with their own eyes. Why should anyone believe their little theory? They might have seen some mutations and whatnot, but those have been IN THE LAB, not in nature. That theory requires more blind truth than the actual Truth does. When we really do believe in God and wholly submit ourselves, then we might see some proof. Not all proof can be seen, though. But even when you're not a believer, God sometimes sends evidence of His presence. If you really pay attention, you won't need proof.
God bless you. I pray that God will give you the answers you need.

"blind faith" isn't just believing in something without evidence, it's also believing in something despite evidence of the contrary. If evidence has been presented, you're then making an "informed decision". When it comes to God and Jesus, however, what constitutes "proof" to some people isn't necessarily evidence in the minds of others. So, someone else looking at your "evidence" may not see it as actual proof and may conclude that you're operating on "blind faith"...whereas, you do see it as evidence and in your mind are making and "informed decision"

You bring up Thomas; affectionately referred to as "doubting Thomas", and yet you left out what Jesus said to him?!
Jesus allowed Thomas to feel His wounds, and said, "You believe because you see and that is good; but MORE blessed are those who will believe even though they have not seen."
Now, it is absolutely true and correct to see from Thomas' story that Jesus/God will meet a person where they are in their faith walk.
If you just have enough faith to believe that there could, just maybe, even just slightly consider that there could be a God, and you're willing to just whisper in your mind a simple prayer asking this "God" if He's real, to show you He is, He will honor your prayers.

There is no compelling reason to think that the NT ... and therefore Jesus, his posse, all the characters and all the events of the gospels... is anything more than fiction. There is certainly no contemporaneous corroboration... and all of the secondary accounts are merely hearsay or proven forgeries (Josephus, for example).
Let me put this in perspective for you. You believe that a cosmic Jewish zombie, who is his own father, can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him that you accept him as your master so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced, by a talking snake with legs, to eat from a magical tree... (etc.)..."
It takes a lot more than 'faith' to believe that. I takes a total lack of intellectual honesty in evaluating 'evidence'. It (usually) takes childhood religious indoctrination... i.e., the brainwashing of trusting, vulnerable, innocent children to the point where they readily and joyfully accept self-delusion... insanity... as 'normal'.
None of this constitutes goodness or virtue... it constitutes a gross, despicable, contemptible and unforgiveable crime against humanity.

hi,
very good question. Blind faith is irrelevan only if you have information, knowledge about facts. since we people can accept what surround us only with our 4 senses receptors, we can't go any further.
once we gain more knowledge, learn more about self, and things that around us, we become more self aware. This process is continious. People by the nature are very self centered. its like cover, once person become self aware, this cover start breaking up on pieces.

"There has been plenty of evidence presented in many Historical Documents. (Other than the Bible)" Really? Perhaps you'd be willing to post your sources on this? As far as I know the only "nearly" contemporary writer of Jesus' time was Josephus and his single reference is questionable.

We all need to believe in something or someone. Theres nothing wrong with that. Sometimes having faith in someone or something help us be better people. Everyone is entitled to believe and have faith in what they want.

All faith is blind by definition. Faith is a word people use to describe a belief which has no convincing evidence.
