Actually what I like to do here is answer questions from my own unique perspective, which besides being atheist is also pagan and Taoist.

I feel it's important to be part of the dialogue, so that people don't go around thinking that everyone thinks alike. How will they know these other ideas are out there unless someone bothers to tell them?

And by the way, if all your questions are worded so rudely I am not surprised you get a lot of sarcasm.

I am not sure what kind of 'scientific nonsense' you have gotten, it would depend on what question was asked, somehow I sense that you are asking questions which are just crying out for silly answers..

As an Atheist, my only 'mission' and I really do not think of it as that at all, is to make sure that ancient, superstitious beliefs are not in the schools system or influencing the courts or government. Apart from that, feel free to believe in whatever wicky wacky stuff you like.

There is several ways of answering this question... a while back I answered this question...
Atheists: If you were blind, how do I convince you that light/colors exist?
Same goes with being deaf with sound/music.

with...
If I were blind,,, you could descrbe the color in words,, using brown is dark like you see but tan is like softness touching it, making it less and less dark.... Music is easy.... let them touch the machine producing the music they get the vibes... and again you could use words but music has the ability to trancend sound.... Now I ask how could you explain these things to a person chosing to wear a blind fold and ear plugs as a christian does? Perhaps you can understand the frustration of us who see and hear in getting through to them.

I am not an atheist.... but my purpose is to teach people the damage religions have done to the earth and it's natural balance.... How religions have interfered with the nature evolution... You can't claim to be good just because you killed everything in your path that proves your god is evil.

"honestly, what is your mission as an athiest? i know my calling in life as a Christian is to live truthfully in the word and allow others to see me as a child of God."

My honest "mission" in life is to reproduce, raise my offspring and die. My goal by coming to Y!A is for a good laugh. I do not need to convert anyone to feel good.

Oh you spelled atheist wrong in that statement.

There is no "atheist mission".

As an individual, my interests are:

1) Keep religious dogma and discrimination out of the legal, political, medical and educational systems.

2) to counter the malicious lies and half truths told by certain Christians about atheist, agnostics, and people of minority faiths.

3) to offer information (if I have it), and opinions (if they are relevant) when asked for.

Honestly, I come to hang out with friends, have a laugh, maybe learn something. If I can dispel some sort of misconception about atheists along the way, so much the better.

To live.

And I fight against Christians because Christians think that their religion should apply to everyone whether that person wants it or not. Christians try to get their religion legislated into law.

Just watch the news. Read a history book. You'll see what I mean.

Frankly, I'm tired of it. Christians need to butt out. All the other religions (except the Muslims) have learned to do that, so why can't the Christians? Is there something chemically wrong in your brains that "butt out" would not occur to you?

I just come on here to read questions from people with all viewpoints and then give my honest answer.

Not sure you've got the right attitude about science though if you think it's nonsense.

i know my calling in life as a human being is to live respecting myself and others.

"live truthfully in the word and allow others to see me as a child of God"

is that is is extremely vague.

My mission as an atheist is nothing. My mission as a concerned human being is saving the human species from itself.
