Yes tattoos take longer than piercings, but personally I would get tatted over pierced any day! You'll be fine, get what ever you want, it's your body. I have a "tramp stamp" too.

I currently have three tattoos: lower back, lower stomach, and my ribs. Everyone's pain tolerance is different. But for me my lower back hurt the worst, but it was also my first tattoo. The pain isn't unbearable and if you bring a friends or an i pod to listen to the time goes by faster. You should be fine, it's really not that bad. And when it's all over you will have a beautiful new tattoo. Good Luck

One thing to remember is that the process of getting a tattoo lasts longer than a piercing. The only way you'll know is to go for it, however, think hard and be original.

yeah you could handle it perfectly fine. Im a big big sissy and i got a big wolf on my back and didnt cry or nithing. it only hurts a tiny bit and the cartilidge piercing hurts alot more then that. the main thing that hurts is when it gets closer to the top of your but and further over towards the sides where you have more meat. and even then it doesnt hurt so bad its unbearable. only thing thats bothersome is the freaking itching for the few days after thats annoying! go for it. you can cope fine

It kinda depends where on the bottom of your back. I got a tattoo on the bottom right side of my back. The bottom portion of my tattoo really didn't hurt because I had enough meat in that area, but as the tattoo artist went further up it really started to hurt because I had very little meat in that area. If you're getting your tattoo in the middle of your back it might hurt because your spine is right there.

The pain basically feels like someone's taken a pin and is scratching your skin with it. If I can handle it, I'm sure you can. I consider myself a wuss with stuff like that but I survived.

Everybody is different. All of the piercings that I have gotten didn't hurt, and I've had many. I personally don't think that tattoos don't hurt. They're more of a weird sensation than anything.

My tattoos definitely hurt worse than my piercings, not to mention that they lasted like.. 2 hours, where as piercings lasted like 2 seconds. That being said, I love tattoos and I love getting them. It hurts, sure, but it's not bad enough to keep me away from them.

eh, i got my first tattoo on the top of my foot, the guy said thats one of the most painful places you can get it since theres no fat there, bottom of the back shouldnt hurt TOO much, the outline is the worst, after that its not so bad.

I have a nice size one on my back. Yes it hurt and took a couple hours. Don't go too small though. Go for it.

if you really want it, and are legal, go do it. Good luck it hurts a hell of a lot more than piercings though.

*edit - also be prepared to get slated by stupid people who call tattoos on the lower bac various names.
