I have a 8 week old kitten ( i asked a question about kitten food yesterday if you rember). Anyway she was on the couch with me and she slipped off! She seems okay, but she did sound like she was crying. Do i need to get my mom to take her to the vet? The couch isnt that tall and she fell on a squichy rug.

Unless she looks like she is hurt or continues to cry, she is probably fine. I have a 16 year old cat and a 5 year old cat, they are constantly falling, fighting, being chased my my young counsins, and other such torture (not really torture... I love my kitties so much but I have young children around the house very often and accidents happen of course ;]). The young cat is a trouble-maker. He has been seriously hurt twice, once he fell off our two story roof and the other time he was in the neighbor's yard (with a large dog). It times like that you DO need to take them to the vet, but cats fall all the time and they are fine.

You will make a great cat parent. :-)

Kitty is almost guaranteed to be fine, but this is a great time to bring up something. Kittens have to learn to get used to being handled like they will at the vet, or when it's time to get their claws trimmed. If you don't handle them that way as kittens, as adults they can put up one HELL of a fight when they need to be checked.

Start playing with her paws, popping out the claws on each finger, poking her gently in the abdomen, checking her legs for "breaks" that sort of thing.

She will bite you when she gets bored with this new game, just FYI.

But in a year when her claws are growing so long they might curl back to her paw if they aren't trimmed, you'll be SO glad she's used to having her paws handled.

I am pretty sure she is fine, my kittens have fallen from higher than that, just keep an eye on her. If she pees OK, poops OK, eats normally, and plays and is active as usual, she's OK. If any of the above seems wrong, take her to the vet - regardless of the fall, it may mean sth. is wrong.

Unless she is limping then I think she is perfectly fine. Kittens, like human babies are built extra tough since they are still learning how everything works in this crazy world. It might have hurt to fall but she shouldn't have any damage.

The younger they are the better they tolerate falls.

I'd think your kitten is just fine. I have 2 cats. They're pretty tough.
