You made the commitment to go with Grandma so suck up and go.

When you get home, look up "Al-a-teen" which is a support group for the children of alcoholics and start going to meetings. And also call your local child protective services office and report her.

Reporting your mother to the authorities will have its consequences - she'll get into trouble for her actions - but at least she will be forced to examine her life and what her actions are doing to you. No, it's not pretty. It's really tough. It's awful. But she is a danger to herself - and to you. Seriously, what happens if she passes out with the stove going or with a lit cigarette?

But remember this. Honey, you did not put the bottle to her lips and force her to drink. You are not responsible for her actions. And things will not get better until you put her in a situation where she has no choice but to address her life head on.

It's not fun, it's not pretty, it's really awful. But do this. Do this for her as much as for you.

When someone throws up after drinking so much, it's because they have poisioned themselves. Throwing up is the body's response to having too much alcohol in their system and it cannot be processed. The amount of alcohol that your mother drank is WAY more than anyone could process.

You can't "catch" it. You're not going to get sick from your mother. Except maybe seeing her throw up might make you FEEL sick.

Go have a nice dinner with your grandmother. And tell her what's been going on. Your mother needs help and you should not have to live in that kind of an environment.
