Here is a song written by Derek Levendusky It's called: "Who Will Love Him?" I think it portrays exactly what your question is implying.

"I think this is my favorite song on this album ("Tribes & Tongues" Isaiah Six and Guests) I was struck one day that loving Jesus is easy when He comes as the enthroned King in our worship services how 'bout when He looks a little different?" [~Derek Joseph Levendusky]

Who will love Him when He's naked?
Who will love Him when He's poor?
Who will love Him when He's the little one;
no daddy anymore

Who will love Him over the oceans;
in a place no one sees?
For what you've done here to the least of them
He says, "You've done it unto Me"

On a Sunday morning the music is so nice
We sang "I love You Jesus"
We sang it thru twice
But I had to wonder as I drove my car home
As I saw the man beneath the bridge alone
He was shivering like a dog out in the cold

Turned on the TV
The preacher looked nice
The suit he wore must have cost him some price
He said that He loved Jesus,
Thanked Him for all things
But when I changed the channel,
There in front of me was a starving child
crying on my screen

Start with a $100.00 gift certificate from Wal-mart. That helps buy what they need whether it is food or clothes or a fan, etc. This time of year it is school supplies and clothes.
Give it to the mother and just tell her that God said give her something. Ask her if she needs anything in particular because you feel like the Lord wants you to do something to help her.

You are a good person and the Lord has put this family on your heart. Nothing happens by chance. The Lord is wanting you to do something to make them feel wanted at church and this mother needs a helping hand. You will be greatly blessed.

we focus alot on that my church, taking in poor families our members donate alot of stuff. when the family admits to needing help we give them food clothes, one family even got a donated car. Sometimes we take up donations. However if the family is not admitting to beeing poor doing those things might embarrass them and make them not wanna come back which would be awful

We give them restaurant and store gift cards so that may find the necessities like clean clothing, food, and hygiene products. Then we place them in respectable shelters or foster homes that will provide them sleeping quarters and bathroom facilities. Afterwards, we help them seek long term employment so that they can regain some financial security. Throughout the entire time of rehabilitation, we conduct bible studies so that they understand their true importance and relevance to the kingdom of God. Everyone plays a role in His kingdom, no matter how insignificant we seem to feel. No one is insignificant in the eyes of the Lord, as long as we have the will to achieve all that God wants us to be. Bible studies are as vital as the basic necessities of life - because we gain revelations during our walk with the Lord to benefit and edify ourselves and others in the body of Christ.

That is what we do. God Bless You richly!!!

We reach out to everyone that will allow it. some pppl dont want help and are very closed, so you dont want to rush them. But, we introduce ourselves, try to get them involved and getting to know ppl, and then we slowly ask their needs and see how they are doing in life. IF they need help and want it, they usually ask and you do what you do, including talking to the pastor about it. We arent wealthy either, but we will do what we can to help them find the ppl tht do have the finances and jobs that can help them. And even more than that, we try to get them involved and feel welcome and loved on and let God direct the whole thing. HE will if we ask. Yes we are to love everyone and help who we can, but we are to be a family in a church where everyone kicks in and tries to help. FAMILY> remember when those words were used in church more?? calling each other brothers and sisters? remember?? How I miss that. We are to be like a family in the family of God and God is calling us back to that right now. G reat question bethy... thanx.

I'd ask the church if there could be some way to donate things to families in need.
i mean the good qaulity things not nobody elses used items or cheap things from their homes.
Sometimes people have to learn how to opperate with others without much.

You can't just walk up to someone and say, "You look poor. How can I help?" You might be making a wrong assumption, and you'll most likely hurt their feelings.

I suppose the best thing to do would be to pray that if they do need your help, God will open a door and make an opportunity for you to offer that help appropriately.

Most importantly, talk to them and make them feel welcome. The more comfortable they feel, they'll be more likely to reveal something about their situation and ask for help if they need it.

I would speak to the pastor about it and let him go and talk to them and find out their situation. That is his job to do. It's good for people to see and notice things such as those you mentioned. The pastor sometimes over looks these issues due to other church issues. He needs good members to keep him informed.

A family in our church was financially strained. We put a bunch of food in large bags and put them in their van while they were in church.
