My husband is going to be out of work for a good while and we have 3 kids. He lost his two first and main fingers on his left hand...they had to take them night before last in surgery. Someone told me that there is a listed amt for each body part with workmans comp...does any of you know someone with a similar situation or have some idea of what they my offer...We are just so concerned about our future financial situation with this loss ....thank you!

there are a number of factors that go into the amount you will be offered. First, if the employer keeps him on in some capacity, then his ability to make money is not as diminished by this accident. Secondly, if his type of work does not generally need both hands, he may not get as much.

I know all of this sounds like a really cold way of looking at it, but this is how the Insurance Company will view it and that is what you will need to realize. A Work Comp carrier typically gives you a percentage of your salary while out of work so you should be OK until he goes back to work. They will probably make you an offer at some point before you go back to work.

Good luck!

It depends. Was the accident because of his negligence or it happened because of mal-function of equipment and so forth. Safety safety safety, after all it shouldn't have happened if all safety procedures are in place. It also depends on weather the employer will keep him employed or not. First thing they have to pay all his medical expenses and make sure he gets the best medical care he can. And then he needs to get some for the physical and psychological effect of what has happened.
I think you need to get a good employment lawyer and sue for some money. The amount will be bigger if it wasn't your husbands fault. Good luck
