And if you are happy right now while being separated from God, why do you need to be with God? Why would you dislike Hell if it's the same as Earth?

That's a good question to think about. I don't believe in hell because I believe Jesus defeated hell through his sacrifice (I do believe in purgatory), but hell is supposed to be a place of eternal torture for sins. So if hell existed, it's more than separation from God.

Another argument is that God does show Himself sometimes on earth; miracles, etc. So here on earth we are not completely separated from God.

Hell while being separation from God implies a bit more than the separation on Earth. On Earth everyone gets the benefits of what's known as common grace. This idea is expressed in the phrase, "the rain falls on the just and unjust." To an agrarian society, which in Bible times was the most common, rain is a benefit. The difference between a good crop and famine. Common grace is when God bestows blessings indiscriminately on everyone regardless of belief. This happens on Earth. It will not happen in Hell. Hell is more than the separation from God, it is the separation from any of the side benefits that God's sustaining presence brings to people. Now, you can choose to believe that or not. I'm just trying to answer your question from a Christian perspective. Other people's views may vary.

First of all, if you are a believer in Christ, you are not separated from God. God made a way for us to have a personal relationship with Him- it is our sin that separated us from God. I am not separated from Him on earth, because I gave my life to Jesus. I know that my Redeemer lives. And about hell being eternal separation from God. That is true, however those that are separated here on earth from God, do not burn in an everlasting fire. PLEASE do not say I am judging, you asked the question. I did not just volunteer the answer.

Hell is a place of punishment. We are separated from God because of the devil deceiving Eve. Hell and the devil and his angels were created way before the earth. Hell is certainly not like earth. The Bible is full of descriptions of hell. I believe it will be a lot worse than that. The need to be with God is to escape, pain, death, hate, and evil.

The Holy Spirit is present in me. I am not separate from God because of this.

Hell, or something similar, has been unleashed here on earth many times. The prince of the power of the air rules here on earth.

It will be unleashed again, and again, until Judgment Day.

I understand your question -

Here on earth, we still have a connection with God...we can speak His name, pray to Him, and ask him for help....

In Hell you cannot even speak the name of God....

As per Christian beliefs, we were created in the image an likeness of God, and complete seperation from Him is the ultimate punishment....

It's like they say about heaven, we will be completely happy and praising God forever, but that doesnt sound like much fun to the average person....we cannot understand how this would equal complete happiness any more than we can understand that complete seperation from God would bring us ultimate pain....

You have to accept the fact that we werent made to completely understand God, and that there is so much more about the afterlife that we do not realize....

Good question =-)

Hell is separation of God. The difference is now you realize what you are missing out on. If we truly understood how great God is then we could experience hell through separation. Those in hell will realize exactly what they did wrong and how foolish they were. If you think you wont care, it's because you don't know how great God is. So basically the difference between hell and earth is you realize the mistake you made, but don't downplay that- its more that you think.

There also may be physical pain. hell is reffered to a place of eternal torment, fire and brimstone, and a lake of fire...

Being seperated from God in the "right now" is simply an exercise of "free will," and is a finite concept [ has a beginning and an end].

The concept of "eternal" separation from the light, i.e. God or eternal darkness is infinite [endless].

Also the concepts of Heaven and Hell are associated with reward and not punishment. You are simply rewarded for your actions based on your ability you use free will.

If you use free will to give love [light] you will get love, if you use free will to give hate you will get hate [darkness].

You aren't truly separated from God when you are on Earth. God still communicates with His people and you still have hope that you and God can have a relationship. Also, on Earth, you can convince yourself that there is no God and not worry about it.

In Hell, you will have seen God first hand and so there will be no doubt in your mind that there was a God who loved you and wanted you in His family. And you will have absolutely no hope of ever being in His presence again.

Because hell is also being seperated from all those whom you love and care for. Without them, this Earth is a very lonely place.
