I know there are plenty of level headed Xians out there and even on this board. But I am seriously curious about your views on science. I get this idea from the theme of most of the more extreme posts on this forum:

Do you think science is a grand conspiracy to discredit god?

If so, can you explain why, without saying "It is the devil's work!"

BTW Before you even start, X is chi, the Greek symbol for Christ.

Science has its place, and is 'logical'. It is the interpretation of science 'facts' are the apparent problem. I also realize that interpretaion of religious 'facts' get so-called 'Christians' off the deep in too; they use ' half right interpretion' of things.

Serious Answer:

No, I don't believe science is a grand conspiracy to discredit God at all. I believe that science and religion go hand in hand. I believe that there are some things that science got right that religion got wrong, and I believe there are things that religion got right and science got wrong...so far, anyway.

Dr. Harry Wolper (played by Peter O'Toole in the 1985 movie "Creator") said, "...when science finally peers over the crest of the mountain, it will find that religion has been sitting there all along."

That pretty well summarizes my beliefs and opinions on the subject.

i believe that god created science, and humans are still trying to catch up with all that is possible. but i also believe that not all science is correct, and we have to be careful at what we just go along with. i feel that there were and still are some scientists out there that would do anything they possibly can to discredit god, but that's anywhere, not just in science, and i think when people approach science and compare it to the bible and the things god have taught through his word that we can see what is real and what isn't. the bible answers all that we need to know. and if we follow it the way we should then science can advance to limitless heights.

Science doesn't discredit God. If people look real close into science (like nature), they will find that God exists. I know/know of many atheists who became Christians after studying science closely. They would study science to disprove God, but in the end, the very thing they used to disprove God actually revealed to them that God exists and that shattered their atheist beliefs.
I was never very good at science in school but after studying the basics of it, looking at the universe and nature, it strengthened my beliefs about God even more. I have watched, "The Privileged Planet", "Unlocking the Mystery of Life", "Wonders of God's Creation", "Incredible Creatures that Defy Evolution I and II (I have also ordered number 3 of that one)", and parts of others that show that science (in its true form, not the assumptions that people make but have no proof like evolution) is in agreement with what God has done. God created science, math, matter, energy, knowlege, language, as well as everything else in existence. The whole universe and everything in it points to the Creator. God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are the Creator. Even studying a single cell has pointed to the Creator.
People can't begin to truly understand science (in its true form, not the distorted one of evolution which is a theory that has been disproven by science itself and is a delusion that has deceived many and they don't know it) until they understand God and acknowledge and work with God and science being in agreement.

Science is NOT a grand conspiracy to discredit God. It is a way to learn more about our surroundings and how they work and interact. When science is MISUSED to discredit God, it is not Science's fault, but the human behind the interpretation of whatever type of science they happen to be investigating. Science used that way is more humanism than true science, in my opinion -- "Look how great us humans are! We figured out that we're smarter than that so-called God person."
Well, we'll see how many thumbs down I get here -- hope I answered your question, though.

Science is awesome. To study our world and the worlds around it is a great thing to do. To pervert that study into a spiritual platform would be the same as using a baseball bat to crack open the heads of everyone you do not like instead of using it for playing baseball.

No, but I do think there are those scientists who are so enamored with methodological naturalism that they interpret the evidence in a way that is favorable to such a viewpoint and thus become blinded to other possible explanations.
