12 blocks equal 1 mile, depending where you live. My suggestion would be to get those little gadgets that count your steps. There are 5,280 feet in one mile.

As you see by the answers above, it depends on the way your city is laid out.
Phoenix is 8 to the mile in most areas.
Drive a mile, per the odometer, then count the blocks.

It is typically 20 blocks. If you want to make sure then call up a mapquest view of the area you are planning to walk and look at the distance scale on it.

Generally, if you walk maybe 20 minutes it is probably a mile.
If you are a fast walker it could be 15 minutes. Keep It Up

I do not know which city or area you live in but in a regular new york city street, about 20 city streets = 1 mile.
If you want to know which locations are 1 mile from your house, go to mapquest and play around over there.
Good luck and e-mail me if you have any questions.

It really depends on where you live. The best idea is to ask the city planner in your town. It varies from 10-16 usually.
Good job to you on starting a fitness program! Keep it up!

get a pedometer, the distance of a block changes from town to town, so there is no way to gauge distance by a block. With a pedometer you walk 10,000 steps and you are good to go.

Depends on how big your blocks are. Go here:

And you can map your own walks and see how far you go.
