Why would a God of love send someone to 'hell' as you describe it, for being in a state that they feel so hopeless and helpless that suicide seems to be the answer.

Man it would be like God sending someone to 'Hell' for having cancer.

The person needs professional help. If they are threatening their lives, you may be able to get them in a hospital for 72 hours, depending on the laws in your state.

Oh and BTW, the Bible does not teach that anyone is going to burn in 'hell'.

Read Ecclesiastes 9: 5,10 and Psalms 146:4.

But first take care of your friend and get them some help. Putting fear of burning forever will not help. Calling the authorities and letting them know the person has threatened themselves will.

I think this is more of a Catholic idea. In my faith (Baptist) we are taught that there is only one sin that is unforgivable, renouncing the Holy Spirit. And we are taught that once you receive Christ our salvation is secure. We will have to give an accounting of our life and here on earth our fellowship with God can be damaged if we continually sin, but those sins are covered by the death of Christ.

In order for us to lose and regain our salvation Christ would have to die again. That doesn't work. Christ died one time for the sins of the past, present, and future. We all die with unforgiven or unrepented sin. None die clean and fully sinless. We strive for perfection while on earth, but NONE attain it.

So, I would tell your friend that if her father accepted Chirst as his personal savior and she has as well, then yes she will see him in heaven.

What my priest told me basically is that it depends on the reason for the suicide. If it is done to hurt someone else (vengeful), then it is a sin. But if you are hurting so badly that you can no longer stand to live, God knows this and forgives. People who are so troubled as to take their own lives should suffer no more. This probably is not good advice to prevent your friend from harming himself/herself, but this is what I believe and it has brought me some peace (my aunt committed suicide).

When you became a believer you gave control over your life to God. 1 Cor. 6:19-20 says, "Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body." To me that means that God has the right to end your life but you no longer do. And "God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it." (1 Cor 10:13)

no silly, you become worm food.

if someone is suicidal the best thing you can do for them is have them committed to a mental institution.

if they are a danger to themself then they must be cured.

see the law considers suicide a crime, because no rational person would want to take thier own life.

just simply report them. they might hate you now, but when they get out they will thank you for saving thier life.

Well first of all, you need to tell someone of his/her intentions. They need professional help.
To answer your question though, i think suicide is considered high on the list "thou shalt not kill"...i think this includes oneself.....BUT i also believe god is a forgiving god so it contradicts one another. I don't think there is scripture, but i'm not completely sure or educated enough in that dept. PLEASE talk to this person so they can get help. Life is full of ups and downs but eventually everything works out.

If you are that worried about your friend, get them proffessional help. Telling them how bad they are is NOT going to inspire them. Take it from someone who attempted it once. What they NEED is support and help, not fear mongering.

If Jesus is the only one who can help you through anything then why are you bothering to help? Geez, show a little compassion and stop worrying about the damn bible.

If your friend is saved, they do not go to hell.

The only unforgiveable sin is blasphemy of the Holy Ghost.

I'm sorry thats a rough position for a friend to be in. I would get your friend into a place that can help him deal with it.

A person that commits suicide, commits murder. He murders himself. If you commit murder, you sin. The only way to be forgiven of sin is to repent and ask God to forgive you. If you murder yourself, there is no way to ask God for forgiveness, so you die in your sin and torment will be your punishment, (hell). You can not be forgiven of a sin until the sin is committed. That would be like the police locking you up for a crime you haven't committed as yet. St.Mark 7:14-23

Well, have faith! It'll help.
But I have to tell you that even if you don't believe in it, we all pick the life we live to learn lessons, and if we break our "contract", we still have to learn the lesson in another life time, so better to live it out no matter what.
And yes we see eachother again, to help overcome the bad parts.
Good luck with your friend and let her know everything turns out for the good. She'll see her Dad again, because it's all about loving one another. It never dies, or goes away.
