she really could be pregnant. I got a hamster and two days later, i went to pick her up, and there were these tiny, squirmy red things under her. i thought they were bugs until i took a closer look... but i had a hard time because she died later on, and we had to hand-feed the babies from eyedrops every 4 hours with this milk solution... you probably wont run into that much trouble though.,.

Is your hamster really soft, softer than usual and smooth??

my hamster was softer than all the other ones, it is a sign that your hamster may be pregnant.

if she is always sitting in one spot and making a bed for herself, she may be pregnant. my hamster never went in her little house, she always slept in this little bed she made.

if you think your hamster is pregnant, i suggest you go to the vet as soon as possible and buy hamster books. they really helped us with the babies.

My blackbear would constantly rearrange his bedding in the beginning. He tried to make his bed in his wheel and then tried to run in it too so wood chips, pee, and food went everywhere!! It was terrible and we had to remove the wheel because it was simply unsanitary. Basically a hamster will put his bedding in his favorite area of the cage even if it seems illogical in placement.
I don't think this is enough reasoning to assume that your hamster is pregnant.

I doubt it...most all hamsters, givin the chance will put bedding in the tubes, and food up in a tight corner...I would say she is just a normal hamster...not pregnant

Hamsters do that sometimes. And you might want to get a non-tunnel cage because Syrians can grow to be huge, so it would be better if you got a wire cage like this- http://www.petsmart.com/global/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441781545&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302047888&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374302023695&bmUID=1187794416147&itemNo=2&In=Small+Pet&N=2047888&Ne=2
It is a good cage as other people say but you might want to cover the wire floors as it isn't good for your hamster. From what you say, I can see that you have a CritterTrail cage with those petting zones? I have the largest of those and it is a PAIN to clean it. It takes me 1 hour and 30 minutes to clean it. But my hamsters love it. I am considering getting a small cage so it can be easier for me.

My hamster was doing that too... I think that they do this way so they don't have to get up and go get the food during the day, when they sleep... it's their storage room

By the way, hello Steph ;-)

Just making a penthouse flat for herself. A more up-market place to get away from the hum-drum area.

(Careful she doesn't get out of the cage though, or the next re-location will be inside your wall caverties)
