I have seen many examples of loathing and hatred of the Catholic Church in Y!A. I am not talking about simple disagreement with Church doctrine or practices, but comments like "the Catholic Church is the whore of Babylon", "the Catholic Church is leading millions to Hell", etc.

Can these people really have Christ in their hearts when there is such loathing and hate already there?

Loathing and Hate is removed when you pursue a relationship with God. There is no way we can be close to God and follow his way for our life if we still give way to those weaknesses. God bless~

If those who says that the Catholic Church is the whore of Babylon and the Catholic Church is leading millions to hell, I wonder whether they are actually Christians??? We man ( human) are like a vessel. The more we are filled with water(God/Christ), the less we are filled with air (sins/loathing/hatred)! So, if we are saturated with God, there won't be space left for sins!!!

"There are not a 100 who hate the Catholic Church, but millions hate what they mistakenly think the Catholic Church teaches." - Fulton Sheen

I think instead of worrying about what others are saying about the Catholic church we must try to focus on our relationship with Jesus and how we can grow more and more like him daily in our lives.

Mother Teresa once said, 'If we judge others we have no time to love.'

If others are judging the Catholic Church, we must not react by judging them. Surely Christ will be in their hearts once they see Christ loving them through us.

The will to hate a person or groups of persons is incompatible with a Christian life. Feelings, even strong ones, of negativity ,fear, loathing, repulsion and hate towards another(if they are not cultivated) are just chemical rections.

Some people hate us Catholics(or any group not in their "set") but are not honest with themselves and try to cover this up with"cultivated ignorance" and by saying they hate our "errors'but love us even though they are obviously more than happy to damn us to everlasting torture-not for what ewe do but for what and who we are.

Some just believe all the slanders that they have heard about Catholics and pity and fear us more than hate us. These folks need to look into Catholic and not just anti Catholic information sources.

Willfull hated and all the slander and malice that flow from that will drive out the Holy Spirit and the presence of Christ. Mortal sin and sanctifying grace cannot coexist and it is up to God to judge and up to us to make educated informed assessments.

Zealots of every stripe are compelled to denounce that which doesn't line up with their own convictions, and feel their anger and loathing is righteous. Where the strongly anti-Catholic zealots are concerned, in particular, the prejudice is so deeply ingrained that even when they are shown the Scriptural basis for Catholic doctrine they refuse to admit they are in error.

They profess their belief in and love for the same Lord and Savior as do we; therefore, I accept them as brothers and sisters in Christ who are sincere though misguided, and pray that the Holy Spirit will give them understanding as well as peace. It's difficult in some cases to see where "love one another as I have loved you" is manifest, I agree. But if they are indeed in Christ, I have to believe it's there.

Any Christian can have hatred and loathing within. This leads to the spurious claim that Christians cannot have both the Holy Spirit within and demons. They certainly can.

Matthew 7:15-23
(15) Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
(16) You shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles?
(17) Even so every good tree brings forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree brings forth evil fruit.
(18) A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruits, nor can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
(19) Every tree that does not bring forth good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
(20) Therefore by their fruits you shall know them.
(21) Not everyone who says to Me, Lord! Lord! shall enter the kingdom of Heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in Heaven.
(22) Many will say to Me in that day, Lord! Lord! Did we not prophesy in Your name, and through Your name throw out demons, and through Your name do many wonderful works?
(23) And then I will say to them I never knew you! Depart from Me, those working lawlessness!

Referring to an answer above:
Mat 6:22-24
(22) The lamp of the body is the eye. Then if your eye is sound, all your body is light.
(23) But if your eye is evil, all your body is dark. If, then, the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!
(24) No one is able to serve two lords; for either he will hate the one, and he will love the other; or he will cleave to the one, and he will despise the other. You are not able to serve God and wealth.

Matthew 12:24-27
(24) But hearing, the Pharisees said, This One does not cast out demons except by Beelzebub, ruler of the demons.
(25) But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, He said to them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to ruin. And every city or house divided against itself will not stand.
(26) And if Satan throws out Satan, he was divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand?
(27) And if I throw out the demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your sons cast them out? Because of this, they shall be your judges.
