She does things at work like clipping her toenails or playing her music too loud. She also gives TMI about her health issues and tells everyone when she comes to work without bathing. I want to anonymously give her a clue that her behavior is totally inappropriate.

You are not going to change her. She has no class, no professionalism and is just simply an idiot.

You can flat out tell her to her face that she is an unprofessional slob, but it still won't make any difference.

And BTW, this is not a race issue. That was a racist answer at the top. I think you'll find 'even' black people can be professional and bathe, you bigot.

Hmmm, I'm thinking that such an anonymous hint might really hurt her feelings and it probably will not change her behavior. She may be clueless, but at least she's not being malicious. If you're truly concerned about office etiquette, then you need to follow the rules yourself. The correct thing to do in this situation is report it to HR. They will be able to handle it more tactfully than you seem able to.

Share with her the link to Etiquette Hell. People tell sometimes hilarious stories about what other people (including co workers) do wrong.

While you laugh, you also get an idea of what other people find offensive.

Heck, you can even submit your own (names changed to protect the innocent...) story (not that she'd recognize herself...)

I would take her aside and talk to her...maybe over lunch or something. Be polite, be respectful, and be honest. Tell her you are saying this becuase you are looking out for her, and dont want her work or credibility affected. Be kind and softly tell her how it is affecting her professional image. If she is sensible, she will take it with a pinch of salt, think about it, and try to improve. Goodluck.

Find a cheap paperback book and buy it for all your friends in the office. Or just sneak one copy on to her desk.

HR should handle this, not you. You can report her behavior as it affects you and your job only.

Is she african-american? If so, its a cultural thing and it's hard to fix. If not go to your manager, they can have a conversation with her about it.
