You see? By all the answers they will not ever open their hearts to Jesus until they hit rock bottom. Satan thinks he has won, but he hasn't. Keep witnessing for Christ. Many fail to realize that many Christians have led the atheist's life and to me anyway, it was hell on earth. I am much happier following God's words. Yes, Christians aren't perfect and those that cause strife in 'the name of God' are not Christians, and they should not be categorizing all of us together. If I had to use violence to protect my homeland, yes, I will; that's logic. But anyone out there murdering, raping, abusing others; they are not Christian. All we can do is pray for those that despise us. Shake the dust of their house from your feet and leave.

Blaine Pascal himself wrote;
"If our gamble for God is right, we will win everything-happiness and eternal life. But nothing is lost if we turn out to be wrong."(this is atheist's favorite phrase-dawn) But he finishes: "In other words, it is BETTER to live AS IF GOD EXISTS and discover that He doesn't, than to live as if He doesn't exist and discover that He does."

Tried Christianity for 5 years. Must admit, the part I enjoyed most was joining in the singing - I even wrote an additional verse to an existing song, which got used occasionally by the church I was attending (and also learning all the jargonesque buzzwords like "born-again," "fellowshipping," "praise and worship," "on fire for god," "praying in tongues," "backsliding," and "slain in the spirit.") - most of the rest of it, though, bored me to tears.

I'm much much happier being an Atheist. I was happy before I tried Christianity and I'm happy since I gave it up. I can do whatever I want on a Sunday morning now and I don't have to go to church and put up with seeing all the corruption, double-standards and hypocrisy inherent in that place (and it's not just one church. I tried several different franchises/denominations/whatever you call those things, and they're all the same).

Why don't YOU try being Zoroastrian, a true Zoroastrian, just the same way you try out that new gospel song on the market, or Christian self-help book on the shelves or "Jesus is into me" t-shirt in the shops. You people are allowing yourselves to be brainwashed a la Jonestown/Waco etc. - hows about you TRY?

I'm an agnostic, not an atheist. However, I don't believe in a god in the Christian sense, but rather do believe in a supreme being who is so mysterious that no one knows anything about him. I say that because to me at least, it seems obvious that such a being has or does exist simply because of all the things that have been created.

For the first 20 or so years of my life I was a Christian; specifically a Baptist. Then I started noticing that to be a popular minister you had to preach hate in some form or the other, or else people would not stay with you. I also noticed that while god said "Thou shall not judge", the preachers judged people all the time and, in fact, encouraged others of their congregations to do so as well.

Some protestant religions make it near impossible to maintain their religion due to taboos that they enforce that are not even mentioned in the bible. No booze or beer, no dancing, no smoking, no coffee, and in many cases even no Cokes, Pepsi, etc. And to make it even more confusing, you could from time to time, enter a bar and see some of your fellow churchmembers or even deacons, imbibing and also dancing. It soon became the norm that in this situation you merely pretended not to recognize each other.

It also became noticeable that most ministers use child-like explanations to explain things. The stock answer to a question that they were unable to answer was "the lord works in mysterious ways". They told us to believe in the lord and anything would be possible. That soon turned out to be false.

So no, thank you. I don't care to try anymore. I've been there and done that. Charles Darwin did a lot to clear up some of the mysteries of life. But modern religion has condemned him, prefering instead to resort to fairy tales and make believe.

You can't "test" being a Christian. Once you're a Christian you can never become "not a Christian" (nor would you want to). If someone says they "were Christian", but now are not...they were never a Christian to begin with. Christian is a bad term anyway, because so many people who claim to be "Christian" are not at all. It's NOT about religion or joining some elite group of "righteous" people, it's about a personal, saving relationship with Jesus Christ. If you really want to show an atheist that God exists...do it through example and by showing them the love of Christ...not hostility. Get your life straight before attacking an atheist's beliefs.

How about you give some valid reason to be a true Christian?

Why should we not try to be a good Jew? Or a good Muslim? or a devoted follower of Zeus, Osiris or Quetzalcoatl?

Unless you can give us a logical reason why you god is true and those other gods are not. Bible quotes will be laughed at.

What goes though YOUR mind when you say that God exists?

What reason do you have to make this claim? Why is it different from claiming that dragons, mermaids or unicorns exist? These all have more independent reports of being real than your God.

mostly it;s "how f**kin' hard a concept for them to grasp"

prove your god exists

there's no such thing as a perfect life and you are very naive to think otherwise

I don't want to be a xian or worse a "true xian". I'm a much nicer and more accepting person than that.

Do you really not understand that your god, to me, is like the toothfairy (or Zues or the Flying Spaghetti Monster)? Imagine someone coming up and asking you to try out believing in the toothfairy -thats what you sound like to me

see - now I;m back to "how f**kin' hard a concept is it for them to grasp"

*Drink*

What does through my mind when I say that God doesn't exist? I never state that God doesn't exist I state that I don't believe that God exists. I don't claim to have proof, I only claim to have a belief (or lack of belief). What goes through my mind is the many, many, many reasons which I hold that belief.

Why don't I try being a Christian? I was raised Christian, most atheists were and most of us have tried and did try.

I've tried being a Christian. It didn't work for me. It led to more questions and than, and once I became older and more educated, the concept of God no longer made sense.

What goes through my mind when I say God doesn't exist?
When I think realistically, Atheism is the logical choice.

Why don't you try being a satanist, or a Odinist, or a Hindu, or a Seikh or Muslim, or a Santa-ist or a believer of fairies.

But you have to do it properly, no sitting there and saying "OK I believe in wot mohammed said, but it doesn't feel right, I believe in just Christ again now... Bye..."

...and then 5 minutes later you go back to being your old self again?

Or would you seriously convert your entire belief system, over a number of years, just to 'try it on'?

Your question doesn't make sense. One cannot 'try out beliefs' like CD's or food. I have to give up rational thought AND intuition in order to follow a Christian (or Muslim, or Hindu etc) religion.

How does one give up rational thought? I can't trick my own mind or invent evidence for your God? And why would I want to?
