I have been friends with this woman and her husband for almost 2 years now. She is only 28 y/o, a few years younger than me. Well they both burp all the time, sometimes saying excuse me. Actually, they belch more than burp. I spend more time with her than with him. While I like her a lot as a person, this burping and belching is truly disgusting. I don't think she realizes how nasty it is. I can't take it anymore. How do I tell her?

I have a friend like this, and you're right, it's nasty and embarrassing. Try saying something to them, but make a joke out of it. Like say "Excuse you!" in a funny tone when they do it, or just flat out say "GROSS!!" with the same inflection a little kid might use. If they don't get the hint, then just tactfully say something to her when you're alone that you don't like it and you'd prefer that she not do it on purpose around you. It'd work even better if you have kids....then you could use them as the reason that you want them to refrain from the behavior! After all, we don't want the little ones to have bad habits!!

Say, "Do you realize how much you belch?" No, that wouldn't work, would it? Um, how about asking if you can talk to her about something personal and tell her straight up. If she gets mad and/or offended then the friendship may not be as good as you'd like anyway. OR pick up your OWN bad habit and perfect it making sure it is one that irritates the heck out of her. Then when she mentuions it make a pact to see who can NOT do the disgusting habits the longest. OR start belching back and see what happens.

Give her the "look" a few times. Hopefully you won't actually have to say anything, but if you do, you might ask if she has thought about changing her diet to see if it would help eliminate the belching.

Explain to her that it isn't "lady like" to act in such a manner...especially in a public places such as restaurants, malls, and other places. I think that if you tell her in a nice manner, she won't get offended. Just tell her that you feel that it's inappropriate. We all know that we can refrain ourselves from doing low class things such as burping and belching. If you're at home and you feel bloated and you absolutely have to burp, then that's acceptable, but doing it like she is..well that's just low class.

If she is your friend then what's the worry.
Friendship ending over a burp?
Well that's sad and disgusting.
Just say kindly, "those burps well ew I don't care for that".

Get over it.
Belching is caused by the release of gasses in the stomach.
Unless she's swallowing air to purposely release it and annoy you, it's not something to really be helped.
The best she could do would be to cover her mouth when she belches.
You might consider asking if she has digestive problems that cause her to build up those gasses.

Sort of make a joke of it and say "Sweetie you should see a doctor" if she says "WHY?" say to her "I never heard someone burp as much as you! It sounds like something died of agony in your stomach!" then laugh.
