its submissive urination. Punishing him for doing it makes it even worse.

When you come home, ignore him. He is excited and happy to see you, but just walk in calmly and do not pay him any attention until he calms down. Dont reassure him or try to calm him.

Some obedience classes may be helpful too.. you can learn how to get him to stop jumping. Some obedience may also help give him a little confidence.

I have a friend with a Mastiff who does this and also wets when she sleeps, can you imagine that mess. Its more common in small breed dogs and can be the sign of a bladder problem. Sometimes their bladder doesn't grow as fast as it should. I would go see a vet. They put the Mastiff on some kind of medication and it got it under control. Sorry but I don't remember what the med was called or what the disorder is called.

He has "submissive urination" or "happy pee." This can be corrected, however punishing him only makes the probles worse.

you should go see the vet. They can probably teach you how to train your dogs bladder.
