That way they could be of some use to society and would take pressure of the prison system!

Of course. What a great idea you've come up with.
Ohhh. But what if those "lifers" were set up by the legal/crime fighters and then when they're taken to the hospital after the crash test, their DNA proves they were not guilty of the crime?
Or what if they just happened to resemble the person who actually did the crime and nobody found out they were innocent until after they were killed in your crash tests?
How would you think about it if you looked like someone who'd committed a hideous crime and you got convicted for something you did not do?
How would you feel about your crash test then?
Be honest. It happens all the time. Read the papers. Find out about men who've spent 20, 30, and more years in prison for something they did not do. Why don't you rent "The Thin Blue LIne" a 1988 movie made by the great Errol Morris and then come up with an intelligent way to reform our legal system so things like this do not happen to innocent people. Easy answers come easily to people who don't bother to think things through.

No, many cities have a better solution. They install Red Light Cameras and then shorten the Yellow Cycle on the lights to kick up the number of violations to pay for the cameras. The result is that the intersection is now unsafe and there are more accidents, which are on Camera. So they are using the public as Crash Test Dummies

An eye for an eye? Not the best solution no matter what prisoners are banged up for. Time we had more prison ships, out in the icy north seas or Alaska maybe, make life a lot more uncomfortable for them! why should they have a nice, easy ride. Always said, punishment should fit the crime, not always possible......crash dummy option not really viable is it!? Could laways start sending to the wilderness of Australia again....but then maybe The Aussie primeminister wouldn't have them!! Wouldn;t blame him!

Great idea Elric ! I know people donate their bodies after death to crash testing, but I'm sure this is only realistic if the driver had fallen asleep at the wheel.
Perhaps it could be a new death sentence, kill 2 birds and all that ( or maybe 2 blokes lol ) !

We should use them for something. As far as I'm concerned you should give up all rights while you are in jail. Chain them together and have them cleaning our highways. Use them for medical testing.

Instead they sit in prison watching TV doing nothing for the society they helped ruin. These people live better lives than lots of poor people.

Jurydoc - Why pay their medical bills? Just think of it as speeding up their life sentence. It's cheaper if they die in 5 years instead of 50.

not budget friendly. you are able to reuse the crash attempt dummy many times lower back. . ., which, paradoxically, makes the dummy a greater valued member of society than the Lifer. certainly, i think of organ harvesting could be greater effective.

yes we bloody well should! especially paedophiles and rapists.
i also think they should be tested on instead of testing on animals. an animals body is NOTHING like a humans ina ny way, shape or form, yet a prisoner (human) is, the should fukin suffer!!

i don't believe that will be the right thing to do; i know that most of them did a lot of bad things. but there are still humans and some of them could be innocent; yes they deserved to pay some thing back for the painand sufferring they had inflected on their victim's and family i think the y should do things like put them to do community services but no kind of medical experiment and less they aproved it.

Well best way to have less prisoners serving life is to take them all out back and line them up execute them all military style. or hell kill them all .then their will be less crimes.

nah..i see some of the bleading hearts say its cruel and unusual punishment..like the lifers crime was nice and neat...why dont we (government) send them to war and let these rough and tough killers fight the wars instead of our children..if the con serves his 4 yrs of duty honorably he set free back into society..if he gets killed during battle...oh well he prob die in prison any how..at least this would be an heroic death...plus they would nify uniforms..good food (??)...a chance to see the world...one catch..they could not return to the usa until there 4 yrs are served honorably..who knows..it might make a real person out of them...beam me up spock
