As a Muslimah, it infuriates me to know that the extremists doing all of this senseless killing of innocent people, Muslim and NonMuslim alike, claim they are following Islam. They're not! Suicide gets you sent to hell. Nowhere in the Quran is there some story about getting 70 something virgins. Killing innocent people is forbidden. Forced marriages are forbidden. What do you think of the following?

" Help you one another in AlBirr and AtTaqwa (virtue, righteousness and piety); but do not help one another in sin and transgression. And fear Allâh. Verily, Allâh is Severe in punishment. "

[ Surah: Al-Mâ'idah (05); Ayah # 2]

237. Anas reported: Messenger of Allah said, "Help your brother, whether he is an oppressor or is oppressed". A man enquired: "O Messenger of Allah! I help him when he is oppressed, but how can I help him when he is an oppressor?'' He said, "You can keep him from committing oppression. That will be your help to him".

Starred.

We need more people like you to publically speak out against the extremists in your midst.

And Karma... by putting this on here, publically, she's telling everyone.
Not just the ones who are against the extremists.
Is there some reason YOU don't want to see the real Muslims speaking out against the extremists?

As salaamu a'laikym warahmatullahi wabaraktu, my friend and my sister.

Insha'Allah, you are very correct that suicide is forbidden in Islam as to commit such an act would show that one does not trust in the Mercy and Bountiful Goodness of Allah Subhanna wa Ta'ala and that one has decided that he or she knows better than He who knows all things.

Insha'Allah, yes, living as a true Musim, following the revelations of the Holy Qur'an and the teachings and example of the Last Prophet, Muhammad (peace be uopn him, his family and his followers) so as to serve as a living witness to this truth and, in compasssion and kindness, gently correcting ones brothers and sisters for the love of Allah Subhanna wa Ta'ala is necessary and good.

To those , such as "mypublicincident", who take quotes out of context, forgetting the historical perspective which weigh so heavily on the correct understanding of many of the surrahs of the Holy Qur'an, please, read the whole surrah you are citing and learn the hisotrical background of the same as most of the surrahs were revealed to the Prophet (peace be upon him) as a response to a particular situation which had arisen at the time of the revelation.
IN the surrah you partly quoting, the Muslims were in a position where it was necessary to defend Islam and themselves as they were being attacked an oppressed by those who opposed the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the truth he was conveying to them. Some of the Muslims in that community were afarid to fight for their faith or even for there own welfare. They were being reminded that Allah Subhanna wa Taa'ala knows best and there are times when one must defend oneself and others from injustice (a practice which is common in all three of the worlds major monotheistic religions even to this very day.)

Ma'a salaam.

They are brainwashed with this stuff. Just like Christian preaches goodness and forgiveness in most of the bible but says eye for an eye in an other. All religeon is a load of crap made up by people long ago trying to explain the world around them and to keep them in power indefinatly.

'Nowhere in the Quran is there some story about getting 70 something virgins.'

Nowhere does it say to Pray 5 times a day either.

Muslims still pray 5 times a day, where do they get it from then, it must be some Islamic sources like the promise of 70 virgins.

Hmmm, maybe it's verses like this one:

Sura 2:216 Muslims are commanded to fight for the cause of Allah, even if they do not like, because Allah knows what is best for them: "Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But God knoweth, and ye know not." Statements such as these make it abundantly clear that for a devout Muslims who follows the teachings of the Koran, fighting to advance the cause of Islam is a divine obligation that can hardly be ignored.

As a Christian, I think we may agree on many things now that you point that out, aside from my belief that Jesus is the Son of God. What of Jihad? That has been explained to me as 'Holy War'. If that is true, are Muslims abusing their right of holy war?

People will always fight over interpretation of religious text.

More importantly, backward religious texts written by and for tribal patriarchal communities keep backward cultures, er, backward. So you are only looking at part of the problem.

The mirror reflects both you and them together, united under Islam.
