deepa is a feminine name. Its a Sanskrit word indicating unrelenting light !
wondering what this light means ?
Light indicates truth, spirituality, beauty, knowledge, purity, unrelenting power and most importantly it indicates a person who is optimistic !
Eg:
1. Deepavali a Sanskrit word indicates festival of lights ! It symbolises that age-old culture of India which teaches us to vanquish ignorance that subdues humanity and to drive away darkness that engulfs the light of knowledge.
2. deepa parakshit temple (near varadaraja perumal ) in kanchipuram has a lamp that is burning for last 4500 years ! ... it is believed that this lamp never stops from burning ! if it does then the whole word would be engulfed in darkness !
3. Bijli Mahadev temple in kullu, Himachal Pradesh. The most bizarre temple in this part of the world ! the shiv lingam breaks open every 12 years with a huge thunderbolt ! the siva lingam is once again restored using sandal wood paste and butter ! the sivalingam is even seen in "rigveda". The Rig-Veda has a prayer of Maharishi Vashishta to Lord Rudra to absorb the excessive electric current within himself and so Lord Rudra acceded and absorbed the electricity current saving mankind. This episode took place at the 'Sangam' of Parvati and Beas rivers and is one of the popular stories in the mythological background of Beas basin, in Himachal Pradesh.
So, deepa you are lucky to have a name that has huge meaning. Inshort no one can explain its true meaning ! it indicates mystical force that cannot be expressed in words !

Deep signifies an earthen lamp which use to provide light through burning of a cotton wick dipped in oil, and Deepa is a female gender of Deep. Deep+Avali means line of lights, which amounts to Deepavali, an important festival of India, which we have changed to Diwali.

It simply means light which is bright! So, in India, the festival of lights is called Deepavali!
