They are the people who defend the Christian world view with logic and science and poke holes in the opposing arguments. By knowing how to defend your faith in systematic way makes you stronger in telling others about it. So when some one throws up a question to throw you off track and stump you, then you can clear the hurdle with ease and keep on witnessing.

Apologists are authors, writers, editors of scientific logs or academic journals, and leaders known for taking on the points in arguments, conflicts or positions that are either placed under popular scrutinies or viewed under persecutory examinations. The term comes from the Greek word apologia (αÏολογία), meaning defence of a position against an attack.

It probably means defender. Ah yep I was right.
Christian apologetics is the field of study concerned with the systematic defense of Christianity. The term "apologetic" comes from the Greek word apologia, which means in defense of; therefore a person involved in Christian or Bible Apologetics is a defender of Christianity. Someone who engages in Christian apologetics is called a "Christian apologist".

According to the search I did in the dictionary, the word does not exist. Maybe it was a typo in the Christian Studies manuel.

An apologist (that would be me) is one who defends his faith tooth & nail.
We're not really "apologizing" for anything so to speak.....we are simply defending what we know to be truth
And of course, this practice is known as "apologetics"
The apostle Paul was a great example of an apologist

Couldn't find it in the dictionary, but my guess is that if it's not a typo:
a - against
poli - possibly people from the Greek "polis"
gist - possibly student of
therefore perhaps one who is against studying. ie like yourself?

I suspect it's someone who wants to argue a point of view, but hasn't noticed the spell check facility.
