1. Don't pick, press, rub, or otherwise manipulate your pimples. If you do, you risk spreading the bacteria and increasing the chances of scarring.
2. Use an over-the-counter product containing benzoyl peroxide once or twice a day. It helps break up the plug of dead skin cells, bacteria, and oil that clogs the pore and forms an acne blemish. And it cuts down on the bacteria, too. Start with the lowest concentration, and work your way up.
3. Try over-the-counter products containing sulfur or resorcinol, which help unplug oil glands by irritating the skin. However, most dermatologists believe that benzoyl peroxide is the most effective over-the-counter ingredient for acne.
4. Don't just spot-treat acne; put the product on acne-prone areas, too. That can include your entire face (avoid the lips and eyes), back, and chest.
5. Go easy on your face. Washing removes oils from the surface of the skin, not from within the plugged ducts. In fact, if you're too aggressive in your quest for cleanliness, you may end up drying out or irritating the sensitive skin on your face.
6. Wash properly once or twice a day, using a mild soap, and rub lightly with your fingertips and warm water. If your skin is oily, use a soap with benzoyl peroxide for its drying properties.
7. Don't use brushes, rough sponges, cleansers with granules or walnut hulls, or anything similar on the delicate facial skin.
8. Don't use oily products, such as hair pomades, heavy oil-based facial moisturizers, or oily cleansers.
9. Use water-based make-up.
10. Don't get a facial. You may end up doing more harm than good.
11. Don't rest your chin on your hands or constantly touch your face.
12. Protect your skin from cancer and wrinkles without aggravating your acne by choosing an oil- free sunscreen of SPF 15 or higher.
13. Don't worry about what you eat, unless you notice a correlation between a particular food and your skin breaking out.
14. Watch out for iodine, which can be found in multiple vitamins and iodized salt. Some doctors believe iodine may encourage acne.

Aspirin Mask
Aspirin contains BHA (Beta hydroxy acid) which is a powerful defoliant and great at helping unclog pores and clear blemishes. It's recommended that you use the Aspirin mask / scrub once a week.
Take 6 - 8 uncoated aspirin tablets in cup or bowl and crush them in to a powder.Add a few drops of warm/hot water, allow vera gel or honey, now stir until you have a thick white paste. You may need to add more water to achieve the right consistency.Spread over your entire face, sit back and relax for 10-15 minutes. You'll know when 15 minutes is up as the mask is likely to start falling off your face.Wash off the mask with warm water and a gentle cleanser, as you wash gently massage, the grains will help exfoliate and reveal softer, glowing skin.Gently pat your face dry.
Try rubbing freshly ground garlic cloves (now a paste) into freshly washed skin.
Try fresh lemons after a hot water scrub. Try the same with vinegar instead of lemons. (Both lemons and vinegar are astringents.)
A hot water and face scrub with oatmeal concoction (oatmeal has texture, good for exfoliating dead skin and oils, for example)..
Limit intake of chocolate, coffee, and tea (of which caffeine is a culprit).
Avoid overdoing it on greasy/fried foods, replacing such foods with those that are natural, fresh, and high in vitamins A, B, B5 (highly praised) B6, C, E, and Niacin.
Try taking vitamin supplements with A, B, B6, C, E, and Niacin.
Drink eight glasses of water a day.
=)

Depending on the severity of your acne you might need medication.. However, try this for awhile before you see a dematologist... Wash your face at least 2x a day with a gentle skin cleanser I like Cetaphil for oily skin.. You can find it in most major drugstore's or chain stores.. Use witch hazel as a toner to remove any lingering surface oil.. It doesn't contain alcohol so it's gentle and it has healing benefits as well.. It's also super cheap and easy to fine anywhere... If your skin feels oily you can use it anytime day/night.. I would drink more water and DO NOT TOUCH your face with dirty hands.. OR PICK YOUR FACE>..That will spread bacteria and make the acne worse... Also, I like Clean and Clear ON THE SPOT acne gel.. I would put that on any new blemishes at night before bed and in the morning after you've washed your face and used toner... Another thing is to exfoliate your skin at least once a week.. I like to use baking soda w/ my face cleanser.. You probably already have it in the cupboard just sprinkle about a 1 tablespoon + and rub on your face for a minute or two it will make your skin nice and smooth... Good luck

A warm compress will help shrink the zit. Dip a small hand towel in warm water and gently hold it over the pimple. Beauty products containing benzoyl peroxide also help dry up pimples quickly. Or if there’s nothing else at hand a dab of toothpaste might just help pop it.

i hear you there. i had AWFUL acne. if your face is broken out all the time like mine was this is what i've done. i tried proactive, and a bunch of over the counter stuff. finally i went to the dermatologyst. she put me on a topical(like a cream/gel aplied directly to the skin) and a pill. it took about 3 weeks for the changes to be noticable but now my face is about 80% clear. it's worth going to a professional about. Good luck!
