You do not know what will happen and what will not happen
Most people who pray for things tend to pray for things they Want and not what they Need

When people ask for prayers it is not so that they are heard more, but you are to morn with those who morn, pray with those who pray and cry with those who cry, laugh with those who laugh...etc..
What I'm saying is that, people want affection and love from others and most of all Support. God knows all and He sees all and know what we need before we ask Him

Even Jesus himself prayed to God, Take thy cup from my hand o Lord, and ended it with Your will will be done, I believe is what Jesus prayed before He was taken away

Jesus urged persistence in prayer. Some things are obvious as to whether they are God's will or not. If we ask for what is obviously God's will, the righteous will most likely see such a prayer answered.

God answers a lot of prayers. In fact, if when a Christian has problems in his life, and he doesn't request God's help with them -- then it is quite a serious sin he is committing.

We need to remember as Paul said, that it is the Christian's privilege to suffer for Christ. Thus not all suffering will not be removed. We must be tempered through suffering so as to refrain from sinning.

This pertains to prayer, since a suffering believer most certainly will pray to have such suffering terminated. In these cases, they may remain a thorn in the flesh as Paul had to endure until his death.

If your little toddler wishes and wishes and crys and whines to have a rattlesnake put into his crib, will you do it?

Sometimes what you are praying for would do you harm in the long run; if you don't get
what you earnestly pray for (assuming you are one of Gods children) then its because its either not good for you, or else its just not time for it yet. People are so impatient.
God may well grant your request, but not until the right time. Be patient! Waiting is so hard for people. We want instant car washes, instant coffee, instant oatmeal, a remote that instantly changes the tv channel.
We get credit cards so we can buy what we want immediately instead of waiting until we have the cash to buy it, even though its costs us 110% more to buy it with interest
added on; we are simply not patient.

Also consider this: when you ask for something of God, you are not his only child; what you ask for may very well affect another person or persons, who may also be praying. God loves all his children, and he is not going to grant you something that is perhaps going to take away from someone else.
What you are saying is that if God won't give you what you want, when you want it,
and the color and size you want it in, then to hell with him and his prayer, huh?
With that attitude, I wouldn't hold my breath
waiting for any prayer to be answered.

Prayers are to ask for things within the Will of God. Paul prayed for an infirimty to be healed and it wasn't. Jesus even prayed that the cup of His death pass from Him, but then He said that the Father's Will be done. Saying that being in God's Will through prayer limits us is like griping about the few drops of coffee that spills in the saucer and ignoring all still left in the cup.

Hey John,

Wow what a question, let me say that prayer is not a thing like having to make that cup of coffee every morning. You pray because you know Jesus in a personal way and you want him to be apart of everything you do, say and feel. Even through the bible says that he knows everything before you ever think it or say it. He also says that every hair on your head is numbered. That doesn't mean he doesn't love you and doesn't want to hear from you each and every day....Through out the day. His will and purpose is perfect. We may not understand it or want to expect it but that doesn't mean it isn't just. Also remember he's never early, never late....He's always on time.
If it hasn't happend yet I would say put it at the Lord's feet and when he's ready to bless you....He will....Remember he owns the mountains and the hilltops.... And he knows the matter of the heart even when you don't know :)

Jesus gives two parables, the persistent neighbor and the woman whon seeks justice from a judge.

Because of persistence, the petition reached the friend and the judge which eventually give in. God is a loving Father, He will never spoil us.

He will give our needs not our greeds.

In James sometimes we ask amiss that we might consume it upon our lust.

God knows our hearts and the things that will turn our hearts away from Him. And the most importatnt God has His own timetable, we can't force our desires to be heard.

James 5:16-17

16Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

17Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.

I believe in prayer...If its meant to be, it will find a way...thats what I believe. Me and my boyfriend were having some really hard times..and broke up. I prayed and cried every morning and every night for God to help him and get him through whatever he was going through and to make him realize how much I cared for him..and what do ya know? We're back together now...happier than we have ever been. I feel God works in mysterious ways...and about praying for someone thats sick or on the verge of dying..if God is ready to take them, then they are going home...Home to a better place! Prayer is amazing and I wish everyone did it, and had faith! :)

Prayer is misunderstood. It is not to ask God for all what we want, as though He were some sort of Spiritual Santa Claus.
Prayer is, first of all, a self judging. Of course we can bring requests to Him, but there are many false teachers that take a verse or two from the Bible and run with it, making it sound like God is duty bound to answer and grant whatsoever we ask. Personal experience on the part of every Christian proves that is not correct.
Tell you what- look at what we call the Lord's prayer. It isn't really meant to be recited, as is the common practice. Look to see the relationship angle in every verse of it...and when you think carefully what it says, you cannot help but consider and judge your own life.
Prayer by itself has no power. It is GOD that hears that has the power.

When my 5 year old asks me for something and it's not on my "to-do" list, the answer varies. If we are walking out the door and she asks to paint a picture, the answer is no. If she wants a glass of juice or a couple of crackers to take with her then sure, why not?

Same with God.

No. At best, it is a type of placebo. Prayer is a way for people to feeling like their doing something, without actually having to do anything. It's an empty feel-good gesture.

It is a bit of a contradictory concept. On one hand, people preach about God's "perfect" plan. On the other hand, they pray for him to make changes on their behalf. And the people who come here asking everybody to pray for them are basically saying that their omnipotent, omniscient god only hears them if they get enough people repeating their prayer to him.
