When you and spouse fill out tax return for 2007 just put down your new name on the return. As long as it matches what social security has for the new name you won't have a problem.

Congratulations!

In answer to your question, you've done a great job with having everything changed over. If you are working, it would be a good idea to let the human resources department know about your new name, and then there would be the change with your bank account, too.

When you go in to have your income taxes done, you'll file as "married filing jointly" and just put your new name on there or have the tax professional you use put it in the computer. It may be a good idea to have a professional take a look at your tax situation, this year, to get a better idea of ways you can save money on your income tax returns.

You may want to file a new W-4 with your employer, if you're working. You and your husband will want to discuss just how you two want to handle the amount of withholding you both have taken from your paychecks, since you have a new status, now. However, if you can afford it, you may want to just put "married, but withhold at the higher single rate" on there, just to have more money set aside.

As long as you have legally changed you name, especially with the Social Security Administration, then you need not do anything with the IRS. Now , if you also changed your address, you can (not required) file Form 8822. This will allow the IRS to get you any correspondence or refunds. On the next tax return, just use the new name. Some states have boxes to check on their returns for a change in names, addresses etc.
Congrats to you and your hubby. Good luck!

As long as your name on the tax return matches what the SSA has on file then your name will change automatically when you file your tax return. The IRS verifies this with the SSA when they receive your tax return.

You'll need to notify social security of the name change. When you file your taxes, you'll use your new name. Names on tax returns are checked against social security files.

See http://ssa.gov/gethelp1.htm for info on changing your name with social security.
