I actually agree with Brian .. it is a great question .. and another I would love to know the answer of is WHY do so many people think it's revolting .......
it is something that needs to be done .. and anybody who tells you that they don't pick their nose HAS TO BE the biggest liar under the sun.
but my answer to your question would be ..
discreetly as not to offend the sensitive near you. When alone DIG DEEP.
I work in an enviroment that increases the amount of nasal debris, and there is honestly NO WAY one could avoid a nasal excavation.

That is a great question. Whats in your nose? Is it still loose? Your finger should work for that. Is it a little crusty and stuck in your nose hairs? You may need something to scrape the inside of you nose if it is dry. A pen cap or paper clip may work for that. If it is way in there I like to put a kleenex over my finger and jam it up there the booger will usually stick to a kleenex pretty well.
