I just got my new class of young toddlers...and they are soooo young. My director would like us to send home a craft each week with the Bible verse written somewhere on the craft. Do you have any ideas for this age group? Thanks!

You want to brainwash toddlers? Child abuse starts early in your religion, I see. Kids that age do not need to know about religion any more than they need to know about politics. Keep your beliefs to yourself at least until they are old enough to understand and make their own decisions.

Wow! 9-14 month olds is really young for your director to be concerned with crafts. They really don't have the motor skills to do much at those ages. They're too busy trying to figure out how to stand up and walk at those ages to focus on the detail that most crafts require. 18mos-2yrs is when we can really begin seeing they are ready to try crafts.

IMO -the director shoud be more concerned with constructive, educational, age-appropriate toys than she should with crafts. What children this age most need is a loving and nurturing enviroment with a compassionate care-taker and LOTS and LOTS of time to explore and learn through play. Trying to make them do crafts will be stressful on them AND you!

Blessings on your new venture.

I don't mean to be a downer but this age croup cant even hold crayons or glue without putting it in their mouths. Your director's expectations exceed the physical abilities of the age group. Far better may be a weekly puppet show with the story printed out and sent home.

And really bible verses are not for toddlers.

You're bound to get slammed by some bitter folks - but just move on.

I'm hoping you get the answers you're looking for, because you're setting out on a good thing. wish I was back home, because my wife spent a good 12 years working with youth of all ages. And she's got a ton of ideas! bounce an email and I'll call her tonight.

What comes to mind is tracing the hand.....let them color it...
paper plate with room for their photo...let them color it..
(never met a lil' one that didn't like crayons)

As for verses...anything about children...about God knowing them before they were created....about God's love never leaving us......the verse you select isn't just for the child, but for the whole family.

May God bless the work you're doing! (and all the rest of you that answre the call and work with the youth in the church!)
