Maybe a bulb could not work in that temperature. Just a guess, good question though. Hope someone knows.

I have a Performa by Maytag side by side refridgerator and I do have a light in my fridge and in my freezer. The fridge is only 1 1/2 years old.

If you try to activate a light bulb at the temperature the
freezer is at it will shatter because of the disparity in the temperature of the freezer and the fast increase of temperature of the light bulb

Maybe because there is a lot more area in the fridge and you use it more often. But I have noticed that there is not one in Upright Freezers. There usually are in some chest freezers, I think.

Good question, I will watch to see what answers you get.

Because if you have a light in ur freezer and forget to close it tightly, the heat produce by the bulb will decrease the freezer temperature and all ur frozen food will get thawed. And ur compressor have to keep running the whole night, your bill will shoot up next month.

Probably not a practical idea for freezers.

For this to be of any use Freezers would need a light in every drawer wouldn't they ?
